Compulsory Licensing Of Chronic Diseases Pharmaceuticals Thailand, Sakda Thanicul, Matthew Lim Braslow Jan 2013

Compulsory Licensing Of Chronic Diseases Pharmaceuticals Thailand, Sakda Thanicul, Matthew Lim Braslow

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

For pharmaceutical companies, obtaining patent protection for the pharmaceuticals they develop is essential. Patent protection assures that the pharmaceutical company will have a reasonable opportunity to recoup their most likely quite heavy investment in the new drug and allow the company to control the wholesale market price of the drugs. These key intellectual property rights are truly at the heart of the internationally recognized intellectual property regime. For patent right holders in general merchandise, say an innovative paperclip or mousetrap, the absolute right of the patent holder as to the distribution and price is perfectly acceptable. Pharmaceutical patents however, with …

Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination Of Difloxacin And Enrofloxacin In Urine Samples By Partial Least Squares Regression (Pls) And Direct Orthogonal Signal Correction-Partial Least Squares Regression (Disc-Ols) Methods, Kuldeep Kaur, Ashok Kumar Malik, Baldev Singh, M. Godarzi Jan 2012

Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination Of Difloxacin And Enrofloxacin In Urine Samples By Partial Least Squares Regression (Pls) And Direct Orthogonal Signal Correction-Partial Least Squares Regression (Disc-Ols) Methods, Kuldeep Kaur, Ashok Kumar Malik, Baldev Singh, M. Godarzi

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Simultaneous determination of difloxacin and enrofloxacin using two chemometric methods, partial least squares regression (PLS) and direct orthogonal signal correction-partial least squares regression (DOSC-PLS) is described in this paper. The simultaneous determination of these drugs is difficult due to spectral interferences. The calibration graphs were linear in the range of 1-10 μg mL-1 and 1-9 μg mL-1 with detection limits of 0.52 and 0.15 μg mL-1 for difloxacin and enrofloxacin, respectively. The experimental calibration matrix was designed with 25 mixtures of these drugs. The PLS and DOSC-PLS were used for multivariate calibration of spectrophotometric data. The root mean square error …

Facile Derivative Uv Spectroscopy Method: Simultaneous Estimation Of Tinidazole And Fluconazole In Combined Tablet Dosage Form, Saurabh Pandey, Preeti Pandey, Shaifali Dubey, Udisha Chaturvedi, Awani K. Rai Jan 2012

Facile Derivative Uv Spectroscopy Method: Simultaneous Estimation Of Tinidazole And Fluconazole In Combined Tablet Dosage Form, Saurabh Pandey, Preeti Pandey, Shaifali Dubey, Udisha Chaturvedi, Awani K. Rai

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Two derivative spectrophotometric methods have been developed for simultaneous determination of tinidazole and fluconazole in pharmaceutical formulations. The first method depends on utilization of first derivative UV spectrophotometry, with zero-crossing and peak-to-base measurement at 260.57 & 264.23 nm for fluconazole and 263.86 & 318.85 nm for tinidazole. The second method, compensation technique depends on first derivative of the ratio-spectra by measurements of the amplitudes for tinidazole and fluconazole. Calibration graphs were established for tinidazole and fluconazole in the range of 10-100 μg ml-1 and 2-20 μg ml-1, respectively. All proposed methods have been extensively validated. The results were found to …

Penaeid Shrimp Immune System, Gabriel Aguirre-Guzman, Jesus Genaro Sanchez-Martinez, Angel Isidro Campa-Cordova, Antonio Luna-Gonzalez, Felipe Ascencio Sep 2009

Penaeid Shrimp Immune System, Gabriel Aguirre-Guzman, Jesus Genaro Sanchez-Martinez, Angel Isidro Campa-Cordova, Antonio Luna-Gonzalez, Felipe Ascencio

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Research on an innate immune system of penaeid shrimp is greatly motivated by economical requirements, because their culture is limited by the development of infectious diseases. As invertebrates, shrimp’s natural immunity acts as a fast and efficient defence mechanism against the pathogens. Their immune system involve hemocytes (for encapsulation, nodule formation and phagocytosis), several plasma components (antimicrobial peptides, histones, lysosomal enzymes, lipopolysaccharide, β-1,3-glucan binding proteins, and recognition molecules), and multimeric systems (clotting protein cascade, prophenoloxidase system). When these defense mechanisms fail to protect the shrimp against bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and their products, disease develops and a negative impact takes …

A Serological Survey Of Equine Infectious Diseases In Thailand, Urasri Tantaswasdi, Ruenrudee Punyahotra, Surapong Wongkasemjit, Patchima Indrakamhang Dec 1998

A Serological Survey Of Equine Infectious Diseases In Thailand, Urasri Tantaswasdi, Ruenrudee Punyahotra, Surapong Wongkasemjit, Patchima Indrakamhang

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

During 1997-1998, a serological survey of equine infectious diseases in Thailand was undertaken. Blood, sera and blood smears were taken from 400 horses, donkeys and mules out of an equine population of 8,600. Tests were carried out at the National Institute of Animal Health, Bangkok, Thailand, and at the USDA laboratories, USA, for 10 diseases. There was no evidence of the presence of African Horse Sickness, Glanders, Dourine, Surra and Equine Viral Arteritis. There was one reactor to Babesia caballi and 62 to Babesia equi. Fourteen reactors to equine influenza virus subtype 1 (Praque) and 24 to subtype 2 (Newmarket …

Inflammatory And Immunological Aspects Of Noma, Jeerasak Nopakun Sep 1984

Inflammatory And Immunological Aspects Of Noma, Jeerasak Nopakun

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Noma, which is derived from the Greek meaning the devour or galloping horse gangrene, was known in the times of Hippocrates, Galen and Celsen.(1) Lund(2), who after studying 11 cases of gangrene of the mouth in young children, proposed the name noma (necrosis). Furthermore, it also refered to as gangrenous stomatitis, cancrum oris or in Chiness, dzo-ma-gan (running horse gangrene). (2) Noma is a highly progressive and destructive disease occuring in debilitated person especially children in whom the constitution is altered be bad hygiene and certain infectious diseases. (1,3) It usually begins as a small ulcers of the gingival mucosa. However, …
