Diary Of Anne Frank: Analysis And Design, Leeann Carol Wheaton Mueller
Diary Of Anne Frank: Analysis And Design, Leeann Carol Wheaton Mueller
Master of Theater Production Graduate Projects
The script "The Diary of Anne Frank," by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, and its historical background were studied and researched. After analyzing the play and its given circumstances, a design concept was developed, goals were set, and then the play was directed and produced in a high school setting. The project notebook contains the documented dramaturgy, a written concept statement, the visual plans and materials, the production notes and journal, and production evaluations. The project goal was to implement the aspects of theatre production learned during the course of study, and to educate high school theatre students. The results …

Analysis Of Skills Sought By Employers Of Bachelors-Level Geoscientists, Gregory Shafer, Karen Viskuptic, Anne E. Egger

Bachelors-level geoscientists make up the majority of the geoscience workforce, and positions for entry-level geoscientists are expected to grow rapidly over the next decade, with some jobs anticipating upward of 10% growth (National Center for O*NET Development, 2021). Are geoscience departments adequately preparing undergraduate students to succeed in these positions?

The COVID-19 pandemic provided education researchers with a natural experiment: an opportunity to investigate the impacts of a system-wide, involuntary move to online teaching and to assess the characteristics of individuals who adapted more readily. To capture the impacts in real time, our team recruited college-level geoscience instructors through the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) and American Geophysical Union (AGU) communities to participate in our study in the spring of 2020. Each weekday for three successive weeks, participants (n = 262) were asked to rate their experienced disruption in four domains: teaching, research, ability to communicate with their …

Design Of Broadband Helmholtz Resonator Arrays Using The Radiation Impedance Method, Vidhya Rajendran, Andy Piacsek, Tomás Méndez Echenagucia
All Faculty Scholarship for the College of the Sciences
This paper describes the design process of a low-frequency sound absorptive panel composed of differently tuned Helmholtz resonators (HRs), considering size and fabrication constraints relevant for applications in the building sector. The paper focuses on cylindrical and spiral resonators with embedded necks that are thin and can achieve high absorption. the mutual interaction between the resonators was modeled based on the radiation impedance method and it plays a key component in enhancing the absorption performance of the array. The differential evolution search algorithm was used to design the resonators and modify their mutual interaction to derive the absorption performance of …

Bringing our collective experiences of past collaborations through a virtual connection, we created an international research team of 16 multidiscipline, multicultural, and multilingual academic women called “COVID GAP” (Gendered Academic Productivity) to explore the ongoing challenges and effects of COVID-19. Identifying as insider researchers, we engaged in a two-phase, primarily qualitative research project to better understand the lived experiences of academics during the pandemic. Our past individual experiences with cooperative research informed our roles and responsibilities and how we organized and communicated. This article is a reflection of how COVID GAP has refined our collaborative process in response to an …
Information Bottleneck In Deep Learning - A Semiotic Approach, Bogdan Musat, Razvan Andonie
Information Bottleneck In Deep Learning - A Semiotic Approach, Bogdan Musat, Razvan Andonie
Computer Science Faculty Scholarship
The information bottleneck principle was recently proposed as a theory meant to explain some of the training dynamics of deep neural architectures. Via information plane analysis, patterns start to emerge in this framework, where two phases can be distinguished: fitting and compression. We take a step further and study the behaviour of the spatial entropy characterizing the layers of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), in relation to the information bottleneck theory. We observe pattern formations which resemble the information bottleneck fitting and compression phases. From the perspective of semiotics, also known as the study of signs and sign-using behavior, the saliency …
Comparison Of Percutaneous Vs Oral Infection Of Hamsters With The Hookworm Ancylostoma Ceylanicum: Parasite Development, Pathology And Primary Immune Response, Richard D. Bungiro, Lisa M. Harrison, Blaise Dondji, Michael Cappello

Background
Hundreds of millions of people in poor countries continue to suffer from disease caused by bloodfeeding hookworms. While mice and rats are not reliably permissive hosts for any human hookworm species, adult Golden Syrian hamsters are fully permissive for the human and animal pathogen Ancylostoma ceylanicum. Similar to humans, hamsters may be infected with A. ceylanicum third-stage larvae orally or percutaneously. Oral infection typically leads to consistent worm yields in hamsters but may not accurately reflect the clinical and immunological manifestations of human infection resulting from skin penetration.
Methodology/Principal findings
In this study we compared host responses …

“At Home in the Crucible,” “Celestial Flux,” “Chosen,” “Passing,” and “Today Is a Good Day to Die” were inspired by Leslie Feinberg’s novel, Stone Butch Blues. All flower varieties were mentioned in “Chosen,” and“Passing” was created using concrete image language found in Chapter 15 of Leslie Feinberg’s novel, Stone Butch Blues.

Lucy Breckenridge Diary
This work, the compiled diary of Lucy Breckenridge, was researched by her great-granddaughter, Jerrelene (Hill) Williamson of Spokane, WA. She built upon the work of Lucy’s daughter, Mary Hunt, who gathered the original diary materials. This work is available by permission of the Williamson family.
Lucy Breckenridge was born slavery 1855 in Abemarle, Virginia. She married Henry James Breckinridge in 1871. The family moved to Roslyn , Washington in 1888. The family later moved to Spokane in 1899. Henry died in 1907 and Lucy began her diary about 1919.
