The project, located in East Paso Robles, focuses on 12,000 square feet of a 24,300 square foot site owned by the city of Paso Robles. Head injuries are one of the most common ways workers are injured on a construction site, but head protection has not evolved over the last few decades. A new style of head protection, a safety helmet is being introduced to better protect workers, but the new style has not been widely adopted. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, a subset of V2X communication, enables the vehicle to not solely rely on on-board sensors and allows the vehicle to share information directly to any nearby vehicles. Information shared between vehicles may include a vehicle's position, velocity, and direction, as well as other data. Neutrinos allow researchers to investigate high-energy galactic phenomena, such as supernovae and black holes. Neutrinos interact with their surroundings via the weak nuclear force and therefore, travel unattenuated through space and are not deflected by electromagnetic fields. However, they do rarely interact with other particles. When neutrinos interact with nucleons (protons or neutrons) in a dielectric medium (i.e.: ice sheets), they are detectable through a cone of coherent electromagnetic radiation (Askaryan Radiation) created by the particle shower generated from the neutrino interaction [1]. CERN’s ALICE experiment aims to investigate the strong nuclear force through the study and production of Quark Gluon Plasma via Pb-Pb collisions. ALICE’s Fast Interaction Trigger, a group of several detectors concerned with analyzing collision events, is outfitted with the necessary materials and software for both online and offline data analysis. We simulate the detectors and all the materials in ROOT geometry to understand both machine performance and particle interactions. Aerojet Rocketdyne is investigating the use of directed energy deposition (DED), an additive manufacturing process, to reduce cost and lead time for manufacturing complex rocket engine components for their RS-25 engines. JBK-75 and NASA-HR-1, two Fe-Ni-base, age-hardenable (γ′) superalloys, are used for nozzle structural jackets and hot gas manifolds. Currently, these parts are produced using traditional forging or casting methods followed by intensive machining operations. Additionally, these alloys were designed for use in the wrought condition and require a different set of post-processing heat treatments when produced using DED due to their dendritic, segregated microstructure in the as-built condition. Sinclair International produces certified compostable laminate fruit labels and were interested in the end-of-life period, when disposed of in various settings. The goal of this project was to study and analyze the biodegradation of Sinclair International’s certified compostable labels under home-composting conditions. The labels were sent out to 4 different regions within the United States, including an arid zone (Arizona and New Mexico), mediterranean climate (Atascadero, California), tropical region (Hawaii), and temperate region (Ithaca, New York). There are mechanical, electrical, and storage spaces ancillary to the main building functions. The building comprises six floors that are between 23,000 and 44,000 ft2. While modern digital entertainment has seen a major shift toward photorealism in animation, there is still significant demand for stylized rendering tools. Stylized, or non-photorealistic rendering (NPR), applications generally sacrifice physical accuracy for artistic or functional visual output. Oftentimes, NPR applications focus on extracting specific features from a 3D environment and highlighting them in a unique manner. One application of interest involves recreating 2D hand-drawn art styles in a 3D-modeled environment. This system is a self-propelled pod that transitions smoothly between cables and rails.
