Studies In Locomotion And Anatomy Of Scombroid Fishes, Harry L. Fierstine, Vladimir Walters
Biological Sciences
Acceleration rates, analyses of body movements, and pertinent anatomical features are given for various members of the Scombridae, Istiophoridae, and Xiphiidae and are discussed in light of the modern work on smaller freshwater teleosts and marine cetaceans.
Acceleration values up to 43.1 m/sec2 are given for Thunnus albacares and Acanthocybium solanderi. Nearly 100% of the propulsive thrust comes from the caudal fin. There are two main intervertebral joints which are concerned with locomotion, a pre-peduncular and a post-peduncular joint with the body and peduncle held almost stiff, a condition similar to that described for marine cetaceans. Radiolysis Of Liquid Propane: Radical Reactions, Robert D. Koob, Larry Kevan

The radical reactions in the liquid phase γ-radiolysis of propane have been studied from –130 to 35°C and compared with the gas-phase radiolysis at 35°C. Oxygen was used as a scavenger to separate thermal radical yields, and effects of phase and temperature on the radical yields were assessed. The gas-liquid phase change(a) decreases total decomposition by about 14%,(b) increases disproportionation/combination (D/C) ratios for all radicals by 30% and (c) decreases the isopropyl/n-propyl radical ratio. The decrease in liquid temperature (a) changes the predominant reaction of H atoms from abstraction from propane to addition to product propylene below –78°C at doses …

The yields of ionic and excited molecule reactions in -radiolysis of liquid propane from 35 to –130°C have been assessed by isotopic analysis of C3H8+ C3D8+ O2 and CH3CD2CH3+ O2mixtures. From a comparison with gas phase data the following conclusions are reached for the gas to liquid phase change : (a) the ionic decomposition yield decreases by ≤ 69%, (b) the net excited molecule decomposition yield decreases by 7% or less, (c) parent ion fragmentation still occurs …

El Rodeo, the Cal Poly yearbook, was published annually by the Associated Students. Many of the volumes featured a theme. The collection contains volumes from 1927 to 1980. Publication was suspended between 1943-1945 (during World War II) and between 1972-1976. El Rodeo was published one last time in 1990.
