Seoul National University Agn Monitoring Project. V. Velocity-Resolved Hβ Reverberation Mapping And Evidence Of Kinematics Evolution, Shu Wang, Jong-Hak Woo, Aaron J. Barth, Vardha N. Bennert, Elena Gallo, Edmund Hodges-Kluck, Minjin Kim, Suvendu Rakshit, Tommaso Treu, Hojin Cho
Physics
We present velocity-resolved reverberation lags of Hβ for 20 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) from the Seoul National University AGN Monitoring Project. We detect unambiguous velocity-resolved structures in 12 AGNs, among which eight objects exhibit symmetric structures, two objects show inflow-like characteristics, and two objects display outflow-like signatures. For two AGNs, we successfully measure the velocity-resolved lags in different years, revealing evidence of evolving broad-line region (BLR) kinematics. By combining our sample with the literature velocity-resolved lags, we find that the symmetric velocity-resolved lags are the most common (40%) type among this sample. The frequency of inflow kinematics is also …
Using Camera Stations To Investigate Occupancy Probability And Habitat Associations Of Island Spotted Skunks (Spilogale Gracilis Amphiala) On Santa Rosa And Santa Cruz Islands, Desirae Thomaier
Master's Theses
The California Channel Islands are unique in that two islands (Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz) support two endemic mesocarnivores, the island fox (Urocyon littoralis) and the island spotted skunk (Spilogale gracilis amphiala). Following the near-extinction of island foxes in the early 2000s, island spotted skunk populations increased significantly. Now that foxes have recovered, skunk captures have precipitously declined - possibly due to interspecific competition with foxes who have a similar diet but a larger body size and wider temporal niche. It has been proposed that skunks selectively use canyon bottoms and drainages with high vegetation cover and that these areas …

A Journey For A Lifetime: A Case Study On Camp Ramah In California’S Staff Retention And Professional Development Practices, Steph Sussman
A Journey For A Lifetime: A Case Study On Camp Ramah In California’S Staff Retention And Professional Development Practices, Steph Sussman
Experience Industry Management
Summer camps, intending to provide exceptional experiences for their participants, have prioritized staff retention efforts. Camp Ramah in California has worked to keep staff year after year while providing opportunities for professional development. The purpose of this study was to examine the summer camp staff retention and professional development initiatives employed at Camp Ramah in California. A case study was conducted using a tool developed by the researcher to assess the staff retention and professional development practices implemented by Camp Ramah in California. Ramah has a staff retention and professional development system but does not always align with research-based practices. …

Circular Restricted Three Body Manifold Trajectories Via Koopman Operator Theory, Lindsey Langton
Circular Restricted Three Body Manifold Trajectories Via Koopman Operator Theory, Lindsey Langton
Master's Theses
There are a multitude of computational techniques capable of modeling the behavior of nonlinear dynamic systems over time. In the field of astrodynamics, the most frequently used tools are numerical integrators, specifically Runge-Kutta algorithms. These algorithms have successfully produced numerous two-body trajectories, as well as an increasing number of three-body trajectories when two-body dynamic models fail to produce Δv values within the realm of mission feasibility. Koopman operator theory is an alternative method for modeling nonlinear dynamic behavior that captures an approximation of a nonlinear dynamic system on a defined basis in the Hilbert space. The Koopman operator is an …
Simplifying The Housing Experience: A Redesign Of The Cal Poly University Housing Portal, Emmy A. Nguyen
Simplifying The Housing Experience: A Redesign Of The Cal Poly University Housing Portal, Emmy A. Nguyen
Graphic Communication
There are challenges in functionality, navigation and aesthetics with the current Cal Poly University Housing portal. There exists a need for a redesign of the portal to be more intuitive and user friendly for students. By conducting research with students and University Housing staff to gain a full understanding of the current issues present, an improved interface that reflects the needs of Cal Poly students can be produced. The goal of this self-guided senior project is to provide a streamlined experience that allows students to easily complete their main task with minimal effort. This paper outlines the redesign process of …

Literature Review: New Life K9s Informational Video, Samuel E. Moore
Graphic Communication
New Life K9s is an organization that seeks to unite service dogs with veterans and first responders who are suffering from PTSD and other effects of their heroic work. The organization is seeking a concise informational video that highlights their work and explains their organization to potential donors and the general public. My senior project’s goal is to create this video in a way that accurately showcases the work of New Life K9s and conveys the value of their work. I will be using footage that the organization provides and will incorporate techniques of video editing, color correction, audio editing, …
Petals To Pigment: The Creative Exploration Of Natural Dyeing, Makayla R. Flint
Petals To Pigment: The Creative Exploration Of Natural Dyeing, Makayla R. Flint
Graphic Communication
Petals to Pigment: The Creative Exploration of Natural Dyeing is a collection of clothing and materials dyed with flowers, foliage, bugs, and other natural elements. In this project, I explored the creative potential of sustainable, non-toxic dyes as an alternative to synthetic options. Using natural dyes, I developed designs that are environmentally conscious as well as one-of-a-kind. By practicing experimental dyeing techniques, including varying mordants and extraction methods, I collected data and analyzed it to assess color variability, fabric interaction, and dye longevity.
Alongside the dyed textiles, I designed a digital magazine documenting my process that includes descriptions, dye samples, …

Evermarket:The App For Fresh Finds And Hidden Treasures, Kira M. Sugihara
Graphic Communication
The purpose of this project is to discover a new way of bringing communities together when it comes to buying, selling and trading goods locally. Many smaller vendors struggle to connect with their communities while buyers often become frustrated with the lack of marketing and advertising for these markets and sales. With the help of a mobile app, sellers will be able to list their markets and sales to buyers who will be able to easily locate these local events. This concept eliminates the frustration of trying to find second-hand and fresh goods by putting them all in one place, …
