Infographics And Annual Reports For Nonprofit Organizations, John R. Hall
Infographics And Annual Reports For Nonprofit Organizations, John R. Hall
Graphic Communication
In recent years, the readership of annual reports has been steadily declining. Nonprofit organizations are investigating new solutions to refresh their reports and make them more appealing. The purpose of this study was to test whether or not infographics is a more effective way for nonprofit organizations to present their annual reports than traditional means.
The study investigated possible causes for the diminishing readership of annual reports and how to best address those causes. Shortening attention spans and people’s desire for briefer engagements points to the advantages of infographics. Over a hundred surveys were conducted where people were shown a …

Effect Of Active Immunization Against Growth Hormone Releasing Factor On Concentrations Of Somatotropin And Insulin-Like Growth Factor I In Lactating Beef Cows, K. L. Moore, Jeffrey D. Armstrong, R. W. Harvey, R. M. Campbell, E. P. Heimer
P. Heimer
Office of the President Scholarship
Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of immunoneutralization of growth hormone-releasing factor [GRF(1–29)-NH2] on concentrations of somatotropin (ST) and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) in lactating beef cows. In Experiment 1, multiparous Hereford cows were immunized against 2 mg GRF(1–29)-(Gly)4-Cys-NH2 conjugated to human serum albumin (GRFi, n=3) or 2 mg human serum albumin (HSAi, n=3) at 52 ± 1 d prior to parturition. Boosters (1 mg) were administered on days 12, 40 and 114 postpartum (pp). Serum samples were collected at 15-min intervals for 5 hr on days 18, 46 and 120 pp, …

Comparative Stress Dynamics Of Brood Stock Striped Bass Morone Saxatilis Associated With Two Capture Techniques, Reginal M. Harrell, Mark A. Moline
Comparative Stress Dynamics Of Brood Stock Striped Bass Morone Saxatilis Associated With Two Capture Techniques, Reginal M. Harrell, Mark A. Moline
Biological Sciences
Mature striped bass (Morone saxatilis) were collected from the spawning reaches of the Choptank River, Maryland for the purpose of evaluating stress effects associated with capture. Two commonly used capture devices were evaluated—gillnetting and electrofishing. Results indicated that stress, as measured by changes in plasma corticosteroid and chloride concentrations, was significantly lower and recovery time quicker in those fish captured by electrofishing compared to gillnetting. By the end of the study period (48 h), those fish captured by electrofishing had recovered from the initial capture shock as evidenced by corticosteroid levels returning to near baseline levels. Conversely, at …

Pleistocene Terrestrial Vertebrates From Near Point San Luis, And Other Localities In San Luis Obispo County, California, George T. Jefferson, Harry L. Fierstine, John R. Wesling, Teh-Lung Ku
Pleistocene Terrestrial Vertebrates From Near Point San Luis, And Other Localities In San Luis Obispo County, California, George T. Jefferson, Harry L. Fierstine, John R. Wesling, Teh-Lung Ku
Biological Sciences
Terrestrial vertebrate remains were recovered from sediments that lie on remnants of the lowest marine wave-cut platform between Point Buchon and Point San Luis. Uranium series ages of these samples, which range from 83 to about 49 ka suggest a correlation to late Pleistocene climatic and eustatic events associated with marine oxygen isotope substage 5a, and establish a maximum age of ≈80 ka for the occurrence of terrestrial mammal fossils. The Point San Luis area assemblage appears typical of the late Pleistocene regional vertebrate paleofauna fauna from west-central California. Five mammalian taxa are added to the Pleistocene record from San …
