Printed Maps Of Utah To 1900: An Annotated Cartobibliography, Riley Moore Moffat
Printed Maps Of Utah To 1900: An Annotated Cartobibliography, Riley Moore Moffat
Theses and Dissertations
Old maps are valuable research tools in many fields. Finding and identifying them, however, is often difficult. This annotated cartobibliography attempts to identify all maps of Utah printed before 1900. Entries give the distinguishing features, peculiarities, inaccuracies, and a general description as well as the map's provenance and citations in other lists and bibliographies.
The maps are listed chronologically and include all maps located in research collections in Utah, and in the catalogs of the Library of Congress and the Bancroft Library. Although the first entry is dated 1777, the first map of Utah made from actual observation, earlier maps …

"But To Be Learned Is Good If . . .", E. Wayne Wright
Issues in Religion and Psychotherapy
On Friday April fourth the second semi-annual spring covention of AMCAP was held at the LDS Institute at the University of Utah. The theme was taken from 2 Nephi 9:28-29: "O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish. But to be learned is good if they hearken …

Introspection: An Investigation Into Light Seen In The Flesh, Jaymes Helmstetler
Introspection: An Investigation Into Light Seen In The Flesh, Jaymes Helmstetler
Issues in Religion and Psychotherapy
Poetry, to me (and I suspect to many of us), is like a second language -- like "speaking in tongues." We are told that the ability to speak with tongues is a gift (D&C 46:24), as is the ability to interpret what is said (D&C 46:25). We are also told that we should "study and learn, and become acquainted with . . . tongues. . . " (D&C 90:15). In an effort to help us achieve this purpose and appreciate his gift, I invited Brother Helmstetler to submit an interpretation of his poem, the meaning of which was too obscure …

Ribulose Diphosphate Carboxylase Activities In Cold-Resistant Common Mallow, Malva Neglecta Wallr. And A Cold-Sensitive Tomato, Lycopersicon Esculentum L., Ace 55 Var., William R. Andersen, Jack D. Brotherson
Ribulose Diphosphate Carboxylase Activities In Cold-Resistant Common Mallow, Malva Neglecta Wallr. And A Cold-Sensitive Tomato, Lycopersicon Esculentum L., Ace 55 Var., William R. Andersen, Jack D. Brotherson
Great Basin Naturalist
Common mallow (Malva neglecta Wallr.) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L. var. Ace 55) were compared as to certain characteristics: CO2 fixation properties, ribulose diphosphate carboxyl activities, (RuDPCase) photosynthesis, respiration, and compensation points. Significant differences in these factors were observed in all cases except dark respiration. Mallow enzyme (RuDPCase) activities were higher per unit of enzyme than those of tomato. The Mallow RuDPCase exhibited slightly higher activity at 5 to 25 C. Mallow leaves retained their capacity for photosynthesis and respiration after long periods of exposure to subfreezing temperature. The cold adapted mallow had a higher CO2 …
Transferrin Polymorphism In Bighorn Sheep, Ovis Canadensis, In Colorado, Patrick W. Roberts, Donald J. Nash, Robert E. Keiss
Transferrin Polymorphism In Bighorn Sheep, Ovis Canadensis, In Colorado, Patrick W. Roberts, Donald J. Nash, Robert E. Keiss
Great Basin Naturalist
Serum transferrins were analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in four populations of Colorado bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis canadensis. Transferrin was found to be polymorphic, with two alleles, Tf D and Tf E, being represented in each of the four populations. Within herds the phenotypic ratios conformed to values predicted by the Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Among populations, significant differences were seen with respect to phenotypic frequencies.
Swarming Of The Western Harvester Ant, Pogonomyrmex Occidentalis, Dorald M. Allred
Swarming Of The Western Harvester Ant, Pogonomyrmex Occidentalis, Dorald M. Allred
Great Basin Naturalist
The swarming and mating of harvester ants was observed in Utah in July 1979. Workers groom the alate forms outside the mound before swarming occurs and are highly aggressive in protecting them. Mating pairs apparently are not disturbed by other ants. Fertile females likely use moving vehicles that extend their dispersal.
