Stratified Volume Diffractive Optical Elements As High Efficiency Gratings, Gregory P. Nordin, D. M. Chambers
Stratified Volume Diffractive Optical Elements As High Efficiency Gratings, Gregory P. Nordin, D. M. Chambers
Faculty Publications
We propose stratified volume diffractive optical elements as a new type of diffractive optical element that is capable of functioning as a high-efficiency grating in applications with requirements not suited to traditional holographic or diffractive optical techniques. In this approach, diffractive optical fabrication methods are used to construct an optical structure that emulates volume grating behavior. We discuss the diffraction properties of stratified volume diffractive optical elements and compare them with those used previously in both volume holographic optical elements and stratified volume holographic optical elements. A systematic design process is then presented for deriving structure parameters. We illustrate this …
An Irvingtonian Species Of Brachylagus (Mammalia: Lagomorpha) From Porcupine Cave, Park County, Colorado, Colleen N. Ramos
An Irvingtonian Species Of Brachylagus (Mammalia: Lagomorpha) From Porcupine Cave, Park County, Colorado, Colleen N. Ramos
Great Basin Naturalist
Brachylagus is currently a monotypic genus of uncertain origins and known only from Holocene and late Rancholabrean. A new species of leporid is described from the early and middle Pleistocene (Irvingtonian) deposits of Porcupine Cave, Park County, Colorado. Stratified deposits of the Pit and the Velvet Room, 2 localities within Porcupine Cave, have been dated biochronologically and paleomagnetically from the middle Irvingtonian and early to middle Irvingtonian, respectively. Brachylagus coloradoensis sp. nov., is characterized by its conserved p3 enamel patterns which are intermediate between B. idahoensis and Hypolagus, and its size which is slightly larger than that of B. idahoensis …
Remarkable Waxing, Waning, And Wandering Of Populations Of Mimulus Guttatus: An Unexpected Example Of Global Warming, Robert K. Vickery Jr.
Remarkable Waxing, Waning, And Wandering Of Populations Of Mimulus Guttatus: An Unexpected Example Of Global Warming, Robert K. Vickery Jr.
Great Basin Naturalist
The purpose of this study was to observe the dynamics of a meta-population of Mimulus guttatus. Changes in size and location of 16 original populations and the new populations established in their vicinities in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah, were observed for 25 yr. Twenty-three new populations appeared. Seven original populations and 13 new populations had become extinct by the end of the observation period in 1996. Many populations died out and were reestablished, often repeatedly, during the observation period. Altogether there were 54 population disappearances and 34 reappearances. Many populations changed sized as much as 100-fold …
