In September 1897, eight whaling ships get iced-in just off the northern coast of Alaska. Word spreads to the White House of the plight awaiting the 265 marooned whalers. The decorations are handmade out of things from nature, they sing Christmas carols at the piano, cut down their own Christmas tree, and decorate the tree with lights and ornaments. They even make all of the things they need for Christmas dinner, listen to Christmas carolers, and put out treats for their animal friends.
