Amicus Briefs & Court Filings

SUMMARY OF THE ARGUMENT: The Sentencing Guidelines are, in practice, the most consequential legal text in federal criminal law. Yet this Court has abstained from interpreting the Guidelines for decades. That practice is anomalous in the federal judiciary and should end. District courts must correctly calculate every defendant’s guideline range at every sentencing hearing. Courts of Appeals routinely hear appeals asserting guideline mistakes. And differences of appellate opinion over purely legal, highly consequential questions often arise. This Court apparently declines to hear such cases because the Sentencing Commission could resolve those conflicts. See Braxton v. United States,500 U.S. 344, …

OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Australia

This Volume I report presents Australia’s PISA 2025 results at the international and national level, including results for key student groups. It examines recent trends since PISA 2022 and longer-term trends since reading (2000), mathematics (2003) and science (2006) were first assessed as the focal domains. The results in this report are based on a nationally representative sample of Australian 15-year-old students, stratified using variables of jurisdiction; school sector; geographic location; student sex composition; and a measure of socioeconomic background.

Prv Realty Corp. V. Boyce Sep 2026

Prv Realty Corp. V. Boyce

All Decisions

Respondent moved to dismiss this nonpayment proceeding on the ground that the rent demand is a defective predicate. Rather than itemizing the amounts claimed due for each rental period, petitioner demanded a lump-sum total and directed respondent to a ledger to identify what was owed—a method the court finds fails to put respondent on notice of the specific charges claimed and is not a proper function of the court to parse. The defect is compounded by the demand's failure to credit ERAP payments made on respondent's behalf. Under 125 Court Street, LLC v. Sher, 58 Misc 3d 150(A) [App Term, …

2430 Morris Ave Associates Llc V. Jimenez

All Decisions

Nonpayment proceeding settled November 2025; final judgment entered by stipulation March 2026. Respondent defaulted on the stipulation due to unexplained delays by Bronxworks APS in processing her CITYFHEPS application—delays compounded when DSS/HRA notified her of an approval that turned out to be erroneous and opened a "rent review" investigation its own attorney could not explain in court. Respondent moved on an OSC for joinder of APS and DSS/HRA under NYC CCA §110(d) and a stay of execution. Court grants joinder, finding that formal party status will yield the required information more efficiently than a subpoena to DSS's Office of Legal …

Spontaneous Uterine Cornual Rupture In The Second Trimester Of Dichorionic-Diamniotic Twin Pregnancy, Britney Margheim, Timothy Nguyen, Mathias Wiebe, Milton Zheng, Saurabh Kumar, Roufan Yoa Sep 2026

Spontaneous Uterine Cornual Rupture In The Second Trimester Of Dichorionic-Diamniotic Twin Pregnancy, Britney Margheim, Timothy Nguyen, Mathias Wiebe, Milton Zheng, Saurabh Kumar, Roufan Yoa

Student Publications

Background Uterine rupture is a rare but life-threatening obstetric emergency, usually associated with labor in patients with a prior cesarean delivery. Spontaneous rupture remote from a uterine scar, particularly at the cornua in the second trimester, is exceedingly uncommon.

Case We report a 30-year-old gravida 2 para 1 at 253/7 weeks’ gestation with a dichorionic–diamniotic twin pregnancy who presented with abrupt abdominal pain and hemoperitoneum of unclear etiology. Despite reassuring imaging, progressive maternal deterioration and non-reassuring fetal status prompted emergent laparotomy and cesarean delivery. A 3 cm × 3 cm full-thickness left cornual rupture was identified.

Conclusion In pregnant patients …

Modelling Growth Of The Cold-Water Coral Desmophyllum Pertusum According To Food Availability And The Goldilocks Principle, Konstantinos Georgoulas, Sebastian Hennige, Yeaw Chu Lee, Evangelos Boulougouris Sep 2026

Modelling Growth Of The Cold-Water Coral Desmophyllum Pertusum According To Food Availability And The Goldilocks Principle, Konstantinos Georgoulas, Sebastian Hennige, Yeaw Chu Lee, Evangelos Boulougouris

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

This study significantly advances previous attempts to model cold-water coral growth using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) by incorporating the finite nature of food availability, an important parameter in coral development. Building on the Goldilocks Principle, which states that coral polyps must surpass an energetic survival threshold to prosper, this model integrates food-based growth dynamics. The underlying SPH framework simulated fluid-coral interactions in which growth was promoted in optimal flow conditions and food-rich zones. Key innovations include dynamic energy reserves, where the energetic reserves of coral particles depend on food obtained from the surrounding fluid particles. Simulations reveal that higher food …

Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles and Research

BioMolViz is an educational community of practice (CoP) focused on creating resources to improve biomolecular visual literacy instruction and assessment. The community of life science instructors developed in three phases, beginning with a small Core Team that emerged from a conference session and established the domain of interest for the CoP. In-person workshops, supported by short-term funding, drove the initial expansion of the community and the development of shared activities in Phase 2. This CoP was sustained through intentional choices about how members interact, collaborate, and share work. As the community matured in Phase 3, it was supported by longer-term …

Business Process Redesign Through Hybrid Automation: A Case Study Of A Remittance Service Provider, Mary Rose P. Andrada, Leilani De Guzman Sep 2026

Business Process Redesign Through Hybrid Automation: A Case Study Of A Remittance Service Provider, Mary Rose P. Andrada, Leilani De Guzman

Journal of Management for Global Sustainability

Remittance service providers operate in highly regulated environments that demand strict compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements. Despite advances in financial technology, many remittance organizations still rely on traditional processing systems marked by manual data entry, fragmented workflows, repetitive verification procedures, and multiple operational touchpoints. These inefficiencies lead to processing delays, higher operational costs, heavier employee workloads, and lower customer satisfaction. This study examines the potential of hybrid automation as a process redesign strategy within business process management (BPM) to address operational challenges in remittance processing. Drawing on existing literature, the study explores how integrating robotic process …
