Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem, particularly among individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM), who are at an increased risk of developing TB disease. Screening activities conducted through health facility-based screening and active case finding (ACF) provide opportunities to identify TB cases with DM comorbidity. This study aimed to describe the epidemiological characteristics of TB-DM cases identified through screening activities in Indonesia in 2024. This descriptive study used routine secondary program data obtained from the Tuberculosis Information System (SITB). Maternal and child health (MCH) is a critical indicator of national health development aligned with SDGs targets. DKI Jakarta, as a densely populated capital city, faces unique challenges in providing equitable MCH services. HIV infection among people who inject drugs (PWID) remains a substantial public health burden, with Jakarta consistently reporting among the highest PWID-associated HIV prevalence in Indonesia. This study aimed to identify factors associated with HIV infection among PWID in Jakarta, utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Integrated Biological and Behavioral Survey (IBBS 2023). A cross-sectional study design was employed using secondary data from 261 PWID recruited in Jakarta. Bivariate associations were examined using Chi-square tests, and multivariate analysis was performed using modified Cox regression with a constant time parameter to estimate adjusted prevalence ratios (aPR) with 95% confidence intervals. The general aim of the study is to seek evidence on the role of knowledge in implementing a health policy on aging. In specific terms, it sought evidence on the actual translation of the law on senior citizens’ access to health benefits and social services. To do so, a combination of policy analysis, archival research, and key informant interviews with local executives of selected respective government units were conducted. This study aimed to design an intelligent adaptive learning environment and examine its effectiveness in developing electronic systems skills and information security awareness among faculty members at Jazan University. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed with 30 faculty members from the Colleges of Arts and Humanities and Applied Medical Sciences, selected by simple random sampling. Two researcher-developed instruments were used: a Skill Performance Observation Card (40 items, alpha = 0.771) and an Information Security Awareness Scale (40 items, alpha = 0.901). We specify a rate-limited peer-recognition system that separates two user operations and gives them different per-person rate ceilings: origination (creating a new gratitude record about a kindness one noticed), whose sustainable rate is low and inelastic, and re-thanking (endorsing a record another user has already surfaced), a reactive operation with a much higher per-person ceiling, the same creation-versus-reaction asymmetry that gives social platforms their high ratio of reactions to posts. The agent holds contribution authority only: it may add value to per-user restricted gift balances, whose holder can give contents onward but not spend them, and it has no affordance to transfer from any such balance to a named payee. Journal of Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies

This study examines the impact of creating a longitudinal void in high-strength reinforced concrete (RC) beams to decrease concrete volume. Testing involved three groups: solid beams (SB), beams with a 75 mm void (VB), and beams with a void incorporating 1.2% micro-steel fibers (VBSF), across various shear spans (a/d) of 1.8, 2.7, and 3.6. Results indicated that increased a/d led to a 54.2% reduction in peak loads and a 119.2% increase in deflection for solid beams. The void negatively affected load-bearing at a/d = 1.8 with a 25% peak load reduction and brittle failure. At a/d = 2.7, effects were …

Understanding internal hydrodynamics of Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD) is crucial for desalination performance and mitigating temperature polarization. Despite its importance, quantitative experimental characterization of hydrodynamics governing boundary-layer development and transport enhancement within DCMD channels remains limited. This study presents the first spatially resolved Particle Image Velocimetry PIV measurement of velocity fields inside a smooth, actively operating flat-sheet DCMD channel, linking observed hydrodynamic structures to permeate flux. Two-dimensional velocity fields were captured at different streamwise positions for feed flow rates ranging from 0.7 to 4 L·min−1, enabling analysis of flow evolution and turbulence characteristics relevant to mass transfer. The current genetic study aimed to screen out the genetic basis of ß-thalassemia in five unrelated consanguineous Pakistani families. Blood samples were collected, and targeted Sanger Sequencing of the HBB gene was done. Serum Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and quantitative measurements of T Helper and T Suppressor Lymphocytes were also carried out. Additionally, in silico analysis, including protein modeling, Protein-Protein docking, and Multiple sequence alignment, was also performed. High-loading Pt cathodes are essential for heavy-duty proton exchange membrane fuel cells but suffer from a critical tradeoff between ionomer sulfonate poisoning and nanoparticle instability. Herein, we report a spatial confinement strategy to encapsulate dense Pt nanoparticles (~51.8 wt%) within Mn/N-co-doped mesoporous carbon nanocages (denoted as Pt-MnNC). This architecture excludes bulky ionomers to create an ionomer-shielded environment against sulfonate poisoning, while Mn-Nx-mediated strong metal-support interactions anchor the Pt nanoparticles to prevent agglomeration and further boost durability. The two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e− ORR) presents a promising route for the on-site production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), offering a green alternative to energy-consuming anthraquinone process. However, the high selectivity toward the competing 4e− ORR over the desired 2e− pathway leads to low Faradaic efficiency for H2O2, posing a critical challenge in catalyst design. Natural gutta-percha, a biopolymer derived from the sap of Palaquium gutta trees, has long been utilized in endodontics for root canal obturation, yet its native physicochemical properties remain inadequately characterized. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of pure gutta-percha from Tjipetir, West Java, Indonesia, employing spectroscopic (FTIR, NMR), crystallographic (XRD), morphological (SEM/EDS, 3D microscopy), and thermal (DSC-TGA) techni-ques. Morphological assessment demonstrated a dense, non-porous microstructure with moderate surface roughness, supported by elemental homogeneity of carbon and oxygen as shown by EDS. Hypothyroidism, characterized by insufficient thyroid hormone production, affects approximately 5% of the population, especially women, thus increasing pregnancy-related risks. Conventional screening mainly measures thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4). Detecting the presence of anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) antibodies indi-cates autoimmune thyroid disease. This study developed an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit for detecting circulating TPO using polyclonal antibodies generated in rabbits. This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal activity of Piper aduncum secondary metabolites along with additive oils against Sclerotium rolfsii, causing stem rot on patchouli cuttings. It was conducted in two stages—an in vitro experiment using a completely randomized design with seven treatments: P. aduncum oil, combinations of P. aduncum oil with citronella grass, lemongrass, cinnamon leaf, and cloves leaf oils, a synthetic pesticide (propineb 70%), and without essential oils. In July 2023, five individuals of Parupeneus jansenii were collected from the Parangipettai landing center, south-eastern India (Bay of Bengal). The standard length ranged from 140 to 150 mm, and two females and three males were recorded. This study confirms the first distributional record and the westernmost valid occurrence of this species in Indian coastal waters. P. jansenii significantly differs from P. heptacanthus in having fewer pectoral fin rays, more gill rakers on the upper limb, and 27 lateral line scales. The redox properties of Helichrysum were studied in human blood using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The study aimed to determine the redox capacity of the phytochemicals in this herb, particularly phenolic compounds and flavonoids, and their effect on the redox balance in the blood. Voltographic plots showed distinct anodic and cathodic peaks at 750 and -600 mV, respectively, consistent with the redox activity of the active metabolites. The results indicated that Helichrysum exhibits a reversible redox process with significant antioxidant capacity, suggesting its role as an electron donor in biological systems. Diclofenac is a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is incompletely removed by conventional wastewater treatment. This study evaluates its fate and transport from consumption and excretion, through the three Al-Rustamiyah wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) units in Baghdad, to the Diyala River, the Tigris River, and the Al-Tuwaitha drinking-water intake. Discrete ``grab'' samples were collected during 12–14 November 2020 from WWTP influent and effluent streams and from river and intake sites.
