Structural characterization of the discrete [Sn@Cu12@Sn20]12− cluster exposed a fascinating architecture composed of three concentric structural layers in which an endohedral Sn atom is enclosed in a Cu12 icosahedron, which in turn is embedded in an Sn20 dodecahedron. Herein, the possibility of sustaining aromatic behavior for this prototypical multilayered species was evaluated, in order to extend this concept to more complex clusters on the basis of magnetic response and bonding analysis by the AdNDP approach. This revealed characteristic features of spherical aromatics, given by the ability to sustain the shielding cone property, similar to archetypal aromatics.

In this paper we suggest a new type of a single-atom (or single-defect) catalyst – MgO with periodic defects on the (0 0 1) surface – which possesses noticeable non-linear optical properties. Periodicity of these defects leads to the significant extensive increase in the activity of a catalyst by growth of the concentration of active sites. In this work we showed the presence of diffuse electride-like multi-center bonds inside every periodic F-center. We also discovered that MgO with periodic defects on the surface gains non-linear optical properties due to electride-like polarizable bonds inside every defect. And most importantly, such defective …

In this paper, a new theoretically designed molecular species with electride characteristics is reported. The idea of this molecular electride comes from the formation of electride-like features in the MgO crystal with defect F-centers. The geometry of the investigated molecule can be described as a Mg4O4 cube with one oxygen atom removed.

Hsu Student Eli Vigil's Last Couple Semesters In College During Covid-19, Forrest Bailey Estes, Eli Vigil
Humboldt in the Time of COVID - Digital Archive
In this interview Eli Vigil, a 4th-year student at Humboldt State University talks about their experience as a student at HSU during the COVID-19 pandemic. They explain that while the pandemic did have a negative effect on their schooling it was a time that they felt helped them take a break in their fast-paced lifestyle. They felt as though they were given new opportunities that benefited them in ways they weren't expecting. However they talk about how they feel they missed out on the college experience due to Covid-19.

Dataset For Using Local Infrasound Arrays To Detect Plunging Snow Avalanches Along The Milford Road, New Zealand (Aotearoa), Leighton M. Watson, Brad Carpenter, Kevin Thompson, Jeffrey B. Johnson
Boise State University Infrasound Data Repository
Snow avalanches pose a hazard to people and infrastructure in alpine environments. We deployed two infrasound arrays along the Milford Road in Fiordland, New Zealand (Aotearoa) to detect, locate, and characterize snow avalanche activity. The Milford Road is a unique avalanche environment because of (a) the immense scale of avalanche activity, (b) the plunging style of avalanches, and (c) the maritime climate, which means that the snow and avalanche characteristics conditions are different to those previously examined in infrasound studies. This data set contains infrasound recordings for four different snow avalanches (two triggered events and two natural events). Data are …

Aquatic therapy for rehabilitation can be performed in a variety of environments, which can vary from a traditional swimming pool to a self-contained underwater treadmill. While kinematic analysis has been performed in large volume swimming pools using specific underwater motion capture systems, researchers may only have access to a land-based motion-capture system, which is not waterproof. Additionally, underwater motion capture systems may not fit within the confines of a smaller underwater treadmill. Thus, the purpose of this study was to design and analyze methodology to quantify lower limb kinematics during an aquatic treadmill session, using a land-based motion capture system. …

Slgpt: Using Transfer Learning To Directly Generate Simulink Model Files And Find Bugs In The Simulink Toolchain, Lal Shrestha Sohil, Christoph Csallner
Association of Computing Machinery Open Access Agreement Publications-Archive
Finding bugs in a commercial cyber-physical system (CPS) development tool such as Simulink is hard as its codebase contains millions of lines of code and complete formal language specifications are not available. While deep learning techniques promise to learn such language specifications from sample models, deep learning needs a large number of training data to work well. SLGPT addresses this problem by using transfer learning to leverage the powerful Generative Pre-trained Transformer 2 (GPT-2) model, which has been pre-trained on a large set of training data. SLGPT adapts GPT-2 to Simulink with both randomly generated models and models mined from …

Donor-acceptor (DA) conjugated polymers (CPs) with narrow bandgaps and open-shell (diradical) character represent an emerging class of materials whose rich behavior emanates from their collective electronic properties and diminished electron pairing. However, the structural and electronic heterogeneities that define these materials complicate bandgap control at low energies and connections linking topology, exchange interactions, and (opto)electronic functionality remain nascent. To address these challenges, we demonstrate structurally rigid and strongly π-conjugated copolymers comprised of a solubilizing thiadiazoloquinoxaline acceptor and cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b′]dithiophene or dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]thiophene donors. Atom-specific substitution modulates local aromatic character within the donor resulting in dramatic differences in structural, physicochemical, electronic, and magnetic …

Dataset For: Bubble Plume Integral Model For Line-Source Diffusers In Ambient Stratification, Anusha Dissanayake
C-IMAGE data
This dataset includes the source code, scenario simulations, and input and output data used for the simulations of the near-field plume model with line-source geometry in stratification using the Texas A&M Oil Spill Calculator (TAMOC). The model simulations were used to investigate bubble plume behaviour generated from line-source geometry with an integral plume model in stratified ambient reservoirs. This was accomplished by adapting the double-plume integral model developed for point sources to a line plume. This model is based on buoyancy profiles and top-hat velocity and uses an Eulerian integral modeling approach which predicts the chemical, hydrodynamic, and thermodynamic bubble …

Reynolds Creek Critical Zone Observatory Data
Long-term datasets of suspended sediment (SS) and particulate organic carbon (POC) are valuable to understand the role the fluvial export plays in the landscape responses to changing climate and disturbance regimes such as fire. Here we report a dataset that includes raw SS and POC concentrations and estimated long-term (> 23 years) SS and POC yields from 4 nested catchments that ranged from < 1 to 54 km2 in area across the Reynolds Creek Experimental Watershed and Critical Zone Observatory (RCEW-CZO) in southwestern Idaho, USA. We also estimated SS and POC yields from a burned catchment in the first two years following fire.
The RCEW-CZO is representative of many rangelands in the Intermountain West USA consisting of a mosaic of vegetation including Wyoming big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis) and rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus) at lower elevations …
