Honneth was a student of Habermas and a third generation Frankfurt school theorist who continues to act as director of the famous Institute for Social research in Frankfurt, Germany. He is currently also Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University. The book I review here was his latest. Employer managed health centers were investigated in order to develop a business proposal to present to a Midwestern city for implementation. Benefits to the employer and employee were investigated and included in the proposal. Companies of varying size have implemented successful onsite health centers and help to increase employee productivity while decreasing the overall cost of health care and health care insurance. Self-insured companies with at least 1000 employees are recommended and will provide the earliest return of investment. One such character, Mrs. McIntyre comes across to the readers as a self centered, racist, and xenophobic woman. She treats her tenant farmers, the Shortleys, Astor, Sulk, and the Guizacs with great disrespect and wants to or threatens to dismiss all of them at different points throughout the story. This dissertation proposes, exemplifies, and validates the usage of course-subject co-occurrence (CSCO) data to generate topic maps of an academic discipline. CSCO is defined as course-subjects taught in the same academic year by the same teacher. This work is premised on the assumption that in the aggregate and for reasons of efficiency, faculty members teach course-subjects that are topically similar to one another. To exemplify and validate CSCO, more than 112,000 CSCO events were extracted from the annual directories of the American Association of Law Schools covering nearly eighty years of law school teaching in the United States. The female protagonist’s mad scene, since coming into true vogue in the early nineteenth-century Italian opera tradition, has been prized for its dramatic and poignant emotive qualities. This project explores four nineteenth-century mad scenes; Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (1835), Bellini’s I Puritani (1835), Meyerbeer’s Dinorah (1859), and Verdi’s Macbeth (1847), surveying the literature of each scene and providing formal analysis of musical attributes such as harmony, melodic structure, and formal design, all in comparison to generic operatic conventions. Purpose: To review studies which support the hypothesis that allograft inflammatory factor-1 (AIF-1), a protein initially identified in chronically rejected cardiac allografts, may be involved in the pathogenesis of the progressive fibroproliferative vasculopathy which is a hallmark of systemic sclerosis (SSc).

Recent findings: Recent findings demonstrated elevated AIF-1 expression both in SSc affected tissues and peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Objectives: To review the clinical and laboratory features of twelve cases of nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy (NFD) studied at our institution and of 70 previously described cases in the literature.

Methods: Clinical evaluation and laboratory studies of twelve patients with NFD associated with chronic hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis for end-stage renal disease and a review of 23 previous publications describing 70 patients with this disease.

Results: Eleven patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis and one patient undergoing chronic peritoneal dialysis for end-stage renal failure developed a severe and progressive cutaneous fibrotic process with woody induration of legs, thighs, hands and forearms, and …

Introduction. The antitumor antibiotic mithramycin has also been shown to be a potent and effective inhibitor of fibrosis following glaucoma surgery. This DNA interacting drug displays high affinity binding to GC rich sequences in DNA, including those present in the promoter of the gene encoding the Α1 chain of type I collagen (COL1A1).

Objective. To evaluate the effects of mithramycin on the production of type I collagen in fibroblast cultures from patients with systemic sclerosis. Methods.
