Persistent endodontic infections can endure despite technically adequate root canal treatment, reflecting a biological transition from microbial invasion to a host-driven chronic inflammatory state. This study applied a computational network biology approach to model host–microbe molecular interactions in chronic apical periodontitis and to identify key network hubs sustaining inflammation and periapical bone resorption.

These programs have several goals and aim to equip students with information literacy skills, including evaluating and reflecting, interpreting, seeking, inquiring, and managing information. The primary goal of program evaluation is to drive improvement. (Fitzpatrick et al., 2011). Fitzpatrick et al. (2011) also noted that evaluation serves many purposes, including determining a program's merit or worth, supporting decision-making, organizing a program, and improving a program.

With increasing public debate on complimentary and alternative medicines (CAM) library workers of all stripes need to be empowered to provide reference services on these topics.

Participants will leave this session with knowledge of relevant consumer health tools and resources on CAM. Open access resources will be emphasized. They will be able to offer patrons instruction on evaluating the relevance, accuracy and usefulness of information on these topics.

Presenters come from The University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center where they provide instruction on these topics to health sciences students in pharmacy, nursing, and allied health programs.

This presentation highlights the collaborative teaching partnership between two teacher education faculty members, one teaching a mathematics education course and the other teaching a science education course, in an undergraduate elementary program. Situated within a teacher preparation program at a regional university, this interdisciplinary model seeks to bridge the often-siloed approaches to math and science instruction by modeling inquiry, problem solving, and cross-disciplinary connections. Through a co-teaching framework, the faculty members intentionally designed learning experiences that emphasized real-world applications, learner-centered pedagogy, and the integration of literacy and technology to support diverse learners.

This session brings together the results of two larger bodies of ongoing research, one on dissertation writing groups, and one on dissertation coaching. The purposes of both studies were to determine if participating in either or both initiatives had a positive affect on doctoral students’ dissertation writing process. Data were collected via surveys and interviews over the course of multiple semesters. The session will highlight key findings from both studies. The researchers will also share practical implications they have learned from facilitating writing groups and coaching services, debunking the myth that motivation alone leads to successful dissertation completion.

Despite increasing scholarly interest, spirituality remains underexplored in higher education, often due to concerns about proselytizing and the fluidity of the concept across multiple framings.

Women with children are significantly less likely to complete doctoral programs than their male or non-mothering peers (National Science Foundation [NSF], 2023). This gap underscores the urgency of addressing higher attrition rates for doctoral mothers and the unique challenges that contribute to their departure from the academy. In 2022-2023, women earned approximately 58% of all doctoral degrees (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2024). In 2021, the NSF (2021a) estimated the median age of women in research doctoral programs at 31.7, with a median time to completion of 5.8 years (NSF, 2021b). Cancer – related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is a common side effect of cancer treatment that interferes with cancer survivors’ occupational performance, independence, and quality of life. Despite its high prevalence, CRCI remains under recognized and inconsistently addressed within oncology care. About 70% of individuals diagnosed with cancer report cognitive changes during or after treatment, yet many do not receive treatment. Occupational therapists are clinically trained to evaluate and treat functional cognition, activities of daily activities, instrumental activities of daily living, and client centered goals, positioning them as key providers in addressing CRCI. Purpose: Post stroke depression (PSD) is the most frequent and burdensome mental health complication following a stroke, affecting approximately one third of survivors. Examining how PSD relates to outpatient occupational therapy (OT) utilization may help identify gaps in post-stroke mental health care and reveal whether current billing practices adequately capture OT services.

Project Goals: This project aimed to determine whether an early PSD diagnosis predicts outpatient OT treatment intensity and describe patterns of OT billing related to mental health, including mental health current procedural terminology (CPT) code use and CPT code distributions.

Nicotine is a psychoactive substance, commonly delivered through e-cigarettes. In the short-term, nicotine can cause an individual to feel enhancements in attentiveness, while also reducing stress or withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal generally refers to the phase after quitting or reducing the use of a substance; however, in nicotine, these symptoms can be seen as early as the first usage.
