Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) is a pathogen found in the human oral cavity that plays a central role in the development of dental caries, or tooth decay. This pathogen thrives on the sugars consumed in the diet, contributing to the breakdown of tooth enamel, especially in the presence of poor oral hygiene. S. mutans produces a glycosyltransferase enzyme that converts sucrose into the polysaccharide glucan. Glucan allows the pathogen to attach to the enamel of the tooth and begin metabolizing the sugar on the teeth, resulting in lactic acid. The acid under the biofilm layer lowers the pH of the …

Felines have played an important role in the lives of humans for thousands of years. This study investigated perceptions of felines and feline demographics in Northeast Arkansas (NEA). For Study 1, data on phenotype and health conditions was collected from 2,305 patient files from three NEA veterinary clinics. For Study 2, an anonymous survey generated using Qualtrics was published through College of Agriculture social media accounts to gather opinions from cat owners on feline coat color and ownership trends. The Great Burn Proposed Wilderness lies straddled across the border of northwestern Montana and northern Idaho, a swath of roadless area at the center of the Great Fire of 1910. Peter Singer’s preference utilitarian defense of selective infant replacement in cases of severe disability remains one of the most controversial arguments in contemporary bioethics. The core of Singer’s position relies on the claim that replacing a severely disabled infant with a non-disabled infant increases overall preference satisfaction and is therefore morally permissible. In this paper, I argue that Singer’s argument fails to justify this conclusion. Singer’s replacement premise requires a utilitarian calculus that depends on reliable predictions about future preference satisfaction. This paper will examine whether the emergence of Artificial Intelligence generated “hallucinated” legal cases poses a threat to the legal doctrine of stare decisis and the philosophical foundations of legal authority. While traditional debates regarding precedent have centered on whether courts should follow morally flawed or outdated decisions, recent instances of attorneys citing nonexistent cases generated by Artificial Intelligence establishes an unprecedented problem. Using the 2023 case of Mata v. This proposed management action involves removing introduced rainbow trout (RBT) from tributaries of the Yellowstone River within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) is the primary drug-metabolizing enzyme for most proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), commonly prescribed for gastrointestinal disorders such as heartburn. Guidelines developed by the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) indicate that genetic variants in CYP2C19 may influence PPI response and the likelihood of side effects, and they provide drug and dose recommendations. We systematically evaluated PPI prescribing patterns in Montana’s patient population to inform implementation strategies for pharmacogenetic (PGx)-guided PPI therapy.

Sunny microhabitats are often used as basking sites by small ectotherms. However, sunlight may also increase chromatic contrast between the animal and its substrate, thereby increasing visibility to potential predators.
