Social Stratification And Political Behavior: An Emphasis Upon Structural Dynamics, Christopher Bates Doob Jan 1964

Social Stratification And Political Behavior: An Emphasis Upon Structural Dynamics, Christopher Bates Doob

Honors Papers

The interrelationship of social stratification factors (Social stratification is the relative position of ranks, and their distribution found within a society.) and political institutions is a frequent problem of interest to social scientists. In studies of the relationship between political behavior and social stratification, there are numerous analyses of location or rank. in the stratification system and their effects on political behavior. There also are studies on the relationship between social mobility, status crystallization, (Social mobility for the purposes of this study concerns the comparative social rank between a father and his son.) and political behavior. Integration And Consensus: A Tentative Exploration, Kent Warren Smith Jan 1964

Integration And Consensus: A Tentative Exploration, Kent Warren Smith

Honors Papers

The dimensions of the topic at hand are of a scope known on occasion to induce giddiness of mind and delusions of omniscience among those who treat with such words as consensus and "integration." Let us be warned; recognition of danger is the first stage of wisdom. It is necessary to severely limit our purview and to temper our aspirations. Established knowledge in this complex and elusive area of concern is scanty. Firm data are perhaps lass conspicuous than firm opinions. Ideological convictions often are easier to come by than precise and valid evidence. The immediate moral is to expect …

A Study Of Boy Scout And Aaronic Priesthood Activity (Boys Age Twelve To Fourteen) In Selected Lds Wards, Orval Leonard Nelson Jan 1964

For example, as scouting activities increased, Aaronic Priesthood activities increased. And according to the reference group theory, individuals join reference groups to fulfill certain needs, wants, goals, etc. In an active Boy Scout program many of these needs, wants, and goals are satisfied as the boys participate in the activities outlined by the Boy Scouts of America. Furthermore, once these needs are satisfied, change toward conformity tends to carry over …

The Religious Education Program Of The Pacific Board Of Education, V. Lynn Tyler

Theses and Dissertations

The major purposes of this study have been (1) to define and coordinate principles and policies for religious education in Pacific elementary and secondary schools that are operated by the Pacific Board of Education of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and (2) to provide a manual of instructions for administrators and teachers which will help them attain the objectives outlined in this study.
Religious education in the Pacific Schools is an integral part of the entire curriculum, receiving emphasis in religion classes. The Church Seminary system, in contrast, is supplemental to public secular education.
