Perceptions Of Poverty Families About The Incidence And Effect And Redress Of Poverty In Omaha, Harry W. Reynolds

Publications

Between March and May, 1965, 1112 families residing in nineteen census tracts in the City of Omaha were interviewed through the facilities of the Urban Studies Center of the Municipal University of Omaha with respect to various characteristics of their income, composition, and opinion as these items related to understanding the status of the econornica1ly underprivileged in their neighborhoods. The purpose of these interviews was to facilitate preparation of a community action program in Omaha capable of attacking some of the root causes of poverty and improving the conditions, present and future, of those families who were its victims. Priests And Prophets Negro Ministers And Civil Rights (An Investigation Of A Cleveland Sample), Gerhild Framhein-Peisert Jan 1966

Priests And Prophets Negro Ministers And Civil Rights (An Investigation Of A Cleveland Sample), Gerhild Framhein-Peisert

Honors Papers

In the summer of 1966 the racial conflict in the U.S.A. saw a new polarization. The most militant groups in the "Negro Revolt" joined in a call for "Black Power", a call that emerged on the Mississippi march in July; for them; "Black power" has succeeded the former slogan of "Freedom Now". The concept of Black Power is not, however, a completely new phenomenon. "It has grown out of the ferment of agitation and activity by different people and organizations in many black communities over the years."

The Reference Groups For Educational Achievement Among Culturally Deprived Junior High School Students: A Theoretical Discussion And Preliminary Data Review, Theodore L. Reed Jan 1966

The Reference Groups For Educational Achievement Among Culturally Deprived Junior High School Students: A Theoretical Discussion And Preliminary Data Review, Theodore L. Reed

Honors Papers

As introduction we have chosen to focus primarily on two issues encountered in the definition of the scope of the study. In chapter one the contributions and limitations of theory and research in the field of social stratification are reviewed. The synthesis of this chapter leads to a more general discussion of assumptions in the second part of the introduction. The postulates which are reviewed define both the philosophical biases and the level of generalization at which conclusions may be accepted.

In the second and major part of the thesis we dissect the theory behind each of the major variables …

A Critical Analysis Of The Church Viewed As Struggling Within The Continuum Of Matriarchal-Patriarchal Principles, Robert C. Alexander

Graduate Thesis Collection

It is the thesis of this paper the the Church possesses traits which are characteristic of the human personality; therefore, her spiritual movement can be understood and dealt with through insights of the Oedipus Complex Theory initially described by Sigmund Freud in his discussion of personality development, greatly elaborated upon by Erich Fromm in his book, The Forgotten Language.

A Study Of The Department Of Religious Education Of The Reorganized Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Glen C. Wahlquist

Theses and Dissertations

There have been a few studies related to the religion education movement of the Reorganized Church, but little has been done to research the total program of the Department of Religious Education and its development.
The purpose of this study was to trace the historical development of the religious education program of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1860 to its present organization as the Department of Religious Education; to summarize the church's philosophy of education; and to determine the present status of the Department of Religious Education of the Reorganized Church.

Three Aspects Of Postdivorce Social Adjustment In Mormon Utah And Protestant Nevada, Sonia Lillard Richardson Jan 1966

Three Aspects Of Postdivorce Social Adjustment In Mormon Utah And Protestant Nevada, Sonia Lillard Richardson

Theses and Dissertations

Since this writer has been confused by what seems to her to be radically different attitudes toward marriage and divorce in her own home town (Las Vegas, Nevada) and in Utah communities where she has been residing for the past five years, the social adjustment of female divorcees in these two locations was studied. The purpose was to begin to build knowledge about postdivorce adjustment, and it is hoped that future students of the family will be inspired to further investigate postdivorce problems.
