At first glance this quote may seem to be taken from testimony given concerning the events at My-Lai or Song-My. Actually it is the testimony of an Indian warrior who was at the scene of the massacre at Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota, in 1890. After the cruel death of their daughter in the racist bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. and Mrs. Chris McNair did not react in bitter hatred. Wanting so much that she would not have died in vain, Chris McNair pleaded: "We must work all the harder to bring about a more decent world for the children who are left."

Nineteen months ago, Federal District Judge Richard B. Austin charged the Chicago Housing Authority with racial discrimination in site selection. He ordered that no more public housing could be built in black neighborhoods until 700 units have been built in white areas.
Since that ruling was issued, there has been no construction of public housing.
