The Impact Of The Federal Stamp Program On Food Purchasing Habits Of The Socioeconomic Class, Joe Turner
The Impact Of The Federal Stamp Program On Food Purchasing Habits Of The Socioeconomic Class, Joe Turner
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The implementation of the Federal Food Stamp program affords an opportunity to do responsible research on this topic due to the manner in which the program is administered. The fact that coverage is authorized on a county basis rather than a state-wide basis, which requires that each individual county request and apply for the Stamp Program, provided the availability of a sample area in southern Kentucky where five contiguous counties existed, three of which were participating in the program and two of which were not. This permitted both a control and experimental group from which to draw a sample.

Age, Emotional Maturity And The Decision To Marry, Patricia Ann Duclos, David F. Thomas, Joanne Zusman
Age, Emotional Maturity And The Decision To Marry, Patricia Ann Duclos, David F. Thomas, Joanne Zusman
Dissertations and Theses
The decision to marry and choice of mate are two issues contemplated by most individuals during their lifetime. It is our belief that the manner in which an individual makes these decisions is a reflection of that individual’s level of emotional maturity.
In our society, the right to enter into a marriage agreement is largely determined by chronological age. Our research problem began with the hypothesis that there is no direct relationship between chronological age and emotional maturity at the time of marriage.
For our study, marriages were divided into two general categories: 1) teenage marriages in which at least …

Concentrated Employment Program Dropouts:The Conflict Of Personal Expectations And Institutionalized Values., Margaret Haar Norris
Sociology ETDs
Amounts of money spent by the federal government for social welfare measures to end poverty have risen to unprecedented figures during the last decade. One of the developments in this reputed effort to eliminate poverty has been the creation of a number of manpower training programs and coordinating agencies. The agency so designated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the Concentrated Employment Program (CEP). During its first year of operation, it experienced a dropout rate of 23 per cent, a figure which leads to the question of why the program is unable to retain a large number of its enrollees long …

The review of literature revealed that little systematic. Information is known regarding the placement process as it is related to differential placement of children from a detention facility.
A code sheet was developed for recording the information in the children's records maintained by …

Self-Orientation Of Southern Appalachians, Arshad Rizvi
Self-Orientation Of Southern Appalachians, Arshad Rizvi
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This thesis has as its aim the investigation of the sociopsychological orientation of the people living in Southern Appalachia. To determine the attitudes of self-orientation of the Southern Appalachians, the present study includes, at the nearest level, the family, and then progresses out to the community, the region and the society. It is proposed that in comparison to the urban population, the rural population has a more favorable attitude toward familism, localism, and regionalism; that is to say, residents of the rural area have the orientation to care more for their family than the collectivity (i.e., the community), and they …

Man And Mortality, Susan Hammel
Man And Mortality, Susan Hammel
Student Scholarship
This document explores the sociological and psychological dimensions of death in modern society, specifically examining how contemporary American culture handles mortality. It begins by highlighting death as a taboo subject, noting that technocratic advancements have increasingly isolated the dying individual and complicated the definition of death through life-prolonging machinery and organ transplantation. The author references various philosophers and psychologists, such as Freud and Heidegger, to argue that individuals often maintain an intellectual acceptance of mortality while emotionally denying their own personal demise.
A significant portion of the text is dedicated to the American funeral industry and the economic costs of …
