Since 2011, approximately 200,000 service members transitioned from military service to the civilian sector each year (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2016). , 2014). According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2018 Employment Situation of Veterans Summary report, 8.9% of veterans were disadvantaged as they have little to no higher education. Without a financial support system to fall back on, transitioning veterans face the inevitable issue of homelessness. Research by Tsai, Hoff, and Harpaz- Rotem (2017) found the rate of homelessness among veterans has increased over the past decade with female veterans more likely than their male counterparts to …

Mustang and Dolpo are at a tipping point of connectivity and community change as road development brings the districts closer to Nepal’s economic centers. In this independent study, I document contemporary trade relationships between Mustang’s Sangda and Dolpo’s Chharka, currently separated by three days of unmotorable trail. Through in person interview, archival research, and photography, I document methods of economy and community in three villages- Mustang’s Phelag and Sangda, and Dolpo’s Chharka. I focus upon future community prospects of Sangda and Chharka as road development between the two progresses.

The results of this study are as follows. 1. In the 17th century, the sports industry in Edo targeted the ruling samurai class. This article recovers the link between cultural and educational policy in Latin America to understand the neoliberal state’s discursive institution of culture as capital. It does so by studying the form and function of Mexican and Chilean cultural bureaucracies. Despite their apparent barbaric nature, however, massacres have probably been more common in the contemporary world. A concept of massacres is often evaluative based principally on public perception. The Muslim Travel Ban emerged as an explicitly discriminatory policy when former President Trump signed Executive Order 13769 on January 27, 2017. The first version of the Ban suspended the entry of travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries into the United States. After several iterations, the third version of the ban was upheld by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2018, and only rescinded by a Presidential Executive Order issued by President Joe Biden on January 20, 2021. This thesis is about the politicization of hairstyles in imperial China. They indicated conformity with social norms, or rebellion against them. This was especially true under the country’s last dynasty. The Manchu conquerors imposed their own hairstyle, the queue, on their Han Chinese subjects to make their rule palpable to China’s illiterate millions. “Hair martyrs” who refused to accept this “barbarous” hairstyle were ruthlessly eliminated. This paper explores the academic and professional needs of STEM-students in various higher education institutions across Virginia and how cybersecurity programs can cater to these needs. It also seeks to propose an evidence-based approach for improving the existing cybersecurity programs so that they can become more inclusive and student-ready. การศึกษาเรื่อง ผู้ก่อการร้ายหญิง : ปัญหาและแนวทางการแก้ไข เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษามูลเหตุ จูงใจ บทบาท และกระบวนการในการที่ผู้หญิงเข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการก่อการร้าย ตลอดจนแสวงหาแนวทางในการป้องกันและแก้ไขปัญหา ผลจากการวิจัยพบว่า มูลเหตุจูงใจในการก่อการร้ายของผู้หญิงสามารถแบ่งเป็นสองส่วนหลัก ได้แก่ ส่วนที่เป็นปัจจัยดึงดูด อันเป็นปัจจัยจากฝั่งกลุ่มก่อการร้าย ได้แก่ กระบวนการชักชวนและจัดหาที่มีประสิทธิภาพ ประกอบกับความมีบารมีและความดึงดูดของผู้นำกลุ่มก่อการร้ายและส่วนที่เป็นปัจจัยผลักดัน อันเป็นปัจจัยที่มาจากแรงกระตุ้นของฝั่งผู้หญิงเอง ได้แก่ อารมณ์ส่วนตัว ศาสนา และการเมือง จนนำไปสู่การเข้าสู่กระบวนการโดยสมัครใจเพื่อไปมีส่วนร่วมในการก่อการร้าย โดยในต่างประเทศผู้หญิงมีทั้งบทบาทหลักในการก่อเหตุ และบทบาทสนับสนุน อาทิ การทำหน้าที่เป็นแม่ ภรรยา และจัดหาสมาชิก เป็นต้น ซึ่งมักถูกชักจูงผ่านช่องทางออนไลน์เป็นหลัก ขณะที่บางส่วนที่ไม่สมัครใจก็จะตกเป็นเหยื่อเพื่อแสวงประโยชน์ของกลุ่มก่อการร้าย ในส่วนของประเทศไทยนั้น การก่อการร้ายถูกชี้นำไปในพื้นที่จังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ ซึ่งผู้หญิงจะมีบทบาทในการสนับสนุนกลุ่มก่อความไม่สงบ อาทิ การทำหน้าที่ปฐมพยาบาล และการหารายได้ เป็นต้น โดยถูกชักจูงจากคนในครอบครัวและคนใกล้ตัว ประกอบกับการซึมซับข้อมูลและเรื่องเล่าต่าง ๆ ผ่านประสบการณ์จากการอาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่เป็นเวลานาน และเนื่องจากผู้หญิงเข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการก่อการร้ายในบทบาทต่าง ๆ อันเป็นฟันเฟืองหนึ่งที่ขับเคลื่อนให้เกิดการก่อการร้ายในหลายพื้นที่ทั่วโลก ประชาคมระหว่างประเทศรวมทั้งประเทศไทยจึงได้มีการกำหนดนโยบายที่เกี่ยวข้องในการต่อต้านการก่อการร้ายทั้งในภาพรวมและในมิติของผู้หญิงในการก่อการร้ายเป็นการเฉพาะ อย่างไรก็ดี ยังพบว่าหลายประเทศทั่วโลกยังคงเผชิญกับภัยคุกคามจากการก่อการร้ายจวบจนปัจจุบัน เช่นเดียวกับประเทศไทยที่ปัญหาการก่อความไม่สงบในจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ยังคงดำเนินต่อเนื่องเรื่อยมาหลายทศวรรษ ผู้วิจัยจึงได้เสนอแนะให้มีการปรับปรุงนโยบาย การเพิ่มมาตรการป้องกันในระดับปฏิบัติ ตลอดจนการนำทฤษฎีทางอาชญาวิทยาและแนวทางการป้องกันจากต่างประเทศที่ได้ศึกษาไว้ มาเป็นกรอบในการจัดทำแนวทางในการป้องกันและแก้ไขทั้งในระดับนโยบายและระดับปฏิบัติการที่สอดคล้องกับบริบทของไทย

งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ศึกษาความแตกต่างของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างรัฐกับมุสลิมชนกลุ่มน้อยในประเทศเมียนมาและไทย โดยใช้กรณีของโรฮีนจาในรัฐยะไข่เทียบเคียงกับกรณีของมลายูมุสลิมในจังหวัดชายแดนใต้ แม้ว่าเมียนมาและไทยเป็นประเทศที่มีผู้นับถือศาสนาพุทธนิกายเถรวาทเป็นชนส่วนใหญ่ แต่ผลลัพธ์ของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างรัฐและมุสลิมชนกลุ่มน้อยของทั้งสองประเทศก็มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างชัดเจน กล่าวคือ ในกรณีของโรฮีนจาปรากฏความรุนแรงสุดโต่ง ส่วนในกรณีของมลายูมุสลิมเกิดความรุนแรงต่ำที่กระทำโดยรัฐ นัยยะของการเทียบเคียงของทั้งสองกรณีคือการค้นหาปัจจัยที่ทำให้เกิดและไม่เกิดความรุนแรงที่กระทำโดยรัฐต่อชนกลุ่มน้อยมุสลิม ผลการศึกษาพบว่าปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้ทั้งสองกรณีแตกต่างกันคือ ‘เงื่อนไขไตรลักษณ์’ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยมุมมองของรัฐต่อมุสลิมชนกลุ่มน้อย อิทธิพลของขบวนการพุทธชาตินิยม และความอ่อนแอของมุสลิมชนกลุ่มน้อย ฉะนั้น เมื่อรัฐมีมุมมองที่ปิดกั้นต่อชนกลุ่มน้อยประกอบกับขบวนการพุทธชาตินิยมมีอิทธิพลสูงและสถานะของมุสลิมชนกลุ่มน้อยมีความอ่อนแอแล้ว โอกาสที่จะเกิดการใช้ความรุนแรงสุดโต่งก็มีสูงตามไปด้วย ด้วยเหตุนี้ ผู้วิจัยเสนอว่าการปรากฏหรือไม่ปรากฏของเงื่อนไขไตรลักษณ์สามารถใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการเฝ้าระวังการใช้ความรุนแรงสุดโต่งที่กระทำโดยรัฐต่อมลายูมุสลิมในประเทศไทย และต่อชนกลุ่มน้อยทางศาสนาและชาติพันธุ์ในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้

บทความนี้ต้องการวิเคราะห์อำนาจทางการเมืองของทหารไทยนับตั้งแต่การรัฐประหารในปี พ.ศ. 2490 จนถึง 2557 ด้วยมโนทัศน์รัฐเสนานุภาพ (praetorianism) โดยพิจารณาการพยายามสถาปนาอำนาจของทหารผ่านระบบกฎหมาย การใช้อำนาจบริหารประเทศ และอำนาจเหนือกิจการความมั่นคงภายใน โดยอำนาจของกองทัพในแต่ละยุคสมัยมีระดับที่แตกต่างกัน การปกป้องสถาบันกษัตริย์มีความสำคัญสูงสุดสำหรับรัฐเสนานุภาพไทย ทั้งในแง่ที่ “ระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุข” เป็นทั้งอุดมการณ์ พันธกิจ และเป็นแหล่งอ้างอิงความชอบธรรมของกองทัพ การสร้างรัฐเสนานุภาพไทยเกิดจากความร่วมมือกันระหว่างกองทัพกับพันธมิตรในเครือข่ายรอยัลลิสต์ รัฐเสนานุภาพไทยสามารถผลักดันนโยบายการพัฒนาไปในทิศทางที่ต้องการ ขยายอำนาจหน้าที่ของทหารในปัญหาความมั่นคงภายในออกไปอย่างกว้างขวาง จำกัดอำนาจพลเรือนเหนือกิจการภายในของกองทัพ พร้อม ๆ กับทำให้ประชาธิปไตยแบบรัฐสภาอ่อนแอลง ประการสำคัญ นับตั้งแต่การรัฐประหาร พ.ศ. 2490 กลไกอำนาจของกองทัพได้ถูกสถาปนาลงสู่โครงสร้างส่วนบนของอำนาจ  ทำให้กองทัพสามารถบ่อนเซาะเสถียรภาพของรัฐบาลจากการเลือกตั้งได้อย่างง่ายดาย ดังเช่นที่เกิดขึ้นกับรัฐบาลพลเรือนหลังการรัฐประหารในปี พ.ศ. 2549

บทความเรื่องนี้ศึกษาปัญหาอาชญากรรมลูกผสมที่เป็นปัญหาสำคัญในสังคมไทย โดยวิเคราะห์ปัญหาจากการสังเคราะห์เอกสาร พบว่าปัญหาอาชญากรรมในสังคมไทยในศตวรรษที่ 21 ถูกปรับเปลี่ยนจากการเป็นรูปแบบเดี่ยวมาเป็น “อาชญากรรมลูกผสม” ซึ่งเป็นการผสมผสานกันระหว่างอาชญากรรมรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ทั้งอาชญากรรมรูปแบบเดิม อาชญากรรมรูปแบบใหม่ อาชญากรรมรูปแบบอื่น ๆ และที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต ทำให้เป็นอาชญากรรมแบบเบ็ดเสร็จ มีความซับซ้อน เชื่อมโยงสาเหตุจากปัจจัยการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมโดยเทคโนโลยี ปัจจัยด้านสภาพแวดล้อมทางสังคมในระดับมหภาค ปัจจัยด้านสภาพแวดล้อมทางสังคมในระดับจุลภาค ปัจจัยด้านกายภาพ/ชีวภาพ และปัจจัยด้านจิตวิทยา ที่ประสานสอดคล้องกับวิธีการก่ออาชญากรรม ทำให้ไม่สามารถเข้าใจรูปแบบที่แท้จริงของอาชญากรรมที่เกิดขึ้นได้โดยง่าย นอกจากนี้แล้วอาชญากรรมลูกผสมจะแตกต่างกันขึ้นอยู่กับอาชญากรผู้วางแผนเพื่อให้บรรลุเป้าหมายของการก่ออาชญากรรมนั้น โดยมีลักษณะสำคัญ ได้แก่ ผู้กระทำผิดหรืออาชญากรมีการรวมตัวกันเป็นเครือข่าย/องค์กรมากขึ้น กระทำการข้ามรัฐ/ไร้พรมแดน พึ่งพาเทคโนโลยี และใช้วิธีการที่หลากหลายซึ่งส่งผลกระทบในวงกว้าง ไม่จำกัดช่วงเวลาและสถานที่ สร้างการเลียนแบบ เข้าถึงเป้าหมายได้ง่าย ไม่จำเป็นต้องเผชิญหน้ากับเป้าหมาย คุ้มค่ามากที่สุดในการก่อเหตุต่อครั้ง เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้ชีวิตประจำวัน ติดตามตัวผู้กระทำผิดมาลงโทษได้ยาก ทำให้ต้องใช้บุคลากรและงบประมาณจำนวนมากในการปราบปราม ป้องกันและแก้ไข
