An Intersectional Analysis Of Findings From Humboldt County: The California Cannabis Worker And Equity Survey, Jennifer A. Smith

This study explores how intersectional axes of identity, particularly gender and race, shape the experiences of precarity and resistance among cannabis workers in Humboldt County amid the industry's ongoing transition to legalization. Drawing on survey data from a diverse sample of 58 cannabis workers, the analysis revealed complex dimensions of precarity, including structural, physical, socioemotional, and material issues. Findings indicate that BIPOC workers, particularly men, face heightened structural precarity compared to their white counterparts, while the intersection of race and gender exacerbated vulnerabilities for BIPOC women and beyond binary individuals. การเมืองของขบวนการนักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้ : ชาตินิยมอันหลากหลายในยุคสงครามเย็น, มรกตวงศ์ ภูมิพลับ

งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาการเมืองของขบวนการนักศึกษาในเวียดนามใต้ในยุคสงครามเย็น และชาตินิยมที่ซับซ้อนและลื่นไหลจากการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองและสังคมของนักศึกษา งานวิจัยนี้ประกอบไปด้วย 3 ประเด็นหลักคือ พัฒนาการขบวนการนักศึกษาในเวียดนามใต้ การปลูกฝังและการจัดการศึกษาของรัฐบาลเวียดนามใต้กับความช่วยเหลือของสหรัฐอเมริกา ตลอดจนความหลากหลายของกลุ่มขบวนการนักศึกษาที่มีผูกโยงกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองและสังคมนับตั้งแต่สาธารณรัฐเวียดนามถือกำเนิดขึ้น งานวิจัยนี้ใช้วิธีวิทยาทางประวัติศาสตร์โดยใช้หลักฐานชั้นต้นและชั้นรองจากฝั่งเวียดนามและอเมริกาได้แก่ หนังสือพิมพ์ วารสาร บทกวี บทเพลงและข้อเขียนของนักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้ ในส่วนที่เป็นหลักฐานฝั่งอเมริกา ได้แก่ หนังสือพิมพ์และจดหมายที่บันทึกการตอบโต้ระหว่างนักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้และกลุ่มนักศึกษาในสหรัฐอเมริกา ผลการศึกษาพบว่าการเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษาแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง ได้แก่ ยุคสาธารณรัฐที่ 1 ภายใต้รัฐบาลโงดิ่งห์เสี่ยมและสาธารณรัฐที่ 2 ภายใต้เหงวียนวันเถี่ยว การเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษามีความหลากหลายและซับซ้อนซึ่งไม่ได้เป็นไปเพื่อการต่อสู้เพื่ออุดมการณ์ทางการเมืองเป็นหลักขึ้นอยู่กับบริบทของระดับปัญหาทางการเมืองภายในที่เวียดนามใต้อยู่ในสภาวะความโกลาหลทางการเมืองรวมทั้งสภาวะสงครามที่เพิ่มความรุนแรงมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ปัจจัยเหล่านี้มีผลต่อรูปแบบการเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษาและการออกมาตรการในการตอบโต้โดยรัฐ ขบวนการนักศึกษามีอยู่หลากหลายกลุ่มทั้งที่ทำงานร่วมกับรัฐและต่อต้านรัฐ การเติบโตของขบวนการนักศึกษาเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมากภายใต้การเปิดเสรีเรื่องการศึกษาซึ่งได้รับความช่วยเหลือจากสหรัฐอเมริกา ทั้งนี้ชาตินิยมในหมู่นักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้มิใช่การจำกัดกรอบเพียงแค่การต่อต้านรัฐบาลและอเมริกา ทว่ายังหมายรวมถึงการพยายามสร้างชาติภายใต้สภาวะสงครามและต่อต้านรัฐบาลอำนาจนิยมด้วยการถกเถียงเรื่องการสร้างชาติ ความรักชาติ วัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติและต่างชาติ อย่างไรก็ตามหลังปี 1975 ขบวนการนักศึกษาเวียดนามไม่ได้มีบทบาททางการเมืองเช่นในยุคสงครามเย็น

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวข้องกับอากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) แนวทางที่เหมาะสมในการรับมือ และแนวทางในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมที่เกี่ยวกับอากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) วิธีการดำเนินการวิจัย กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลในการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นบุคคลที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับอากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) คัดเลือกผูู้ให้ข้อมูลแบบเจาะจง ได้แก่ นักบินตำรวจ 1 ท่าน สำนักงานการบินพลเรือน (CAAT) 1 ท่าน คณะกรรมการกิจการกระจายเสียง กิจการโทรทัศน์ และกิจการโทรคมนาคมแห่งชาติ (กสทช.) 1 ท่าน อัยการ 2 ท่าน และประชาชนที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับอากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) 1 ท่าน โดยใช้ การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth Interview) เป็นเครื่องมือเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล จากนั้นใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (Content analysis) และพรรณนาถึงประเด็นต่างๆ ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า (1) ปัญหา รูปแบบ และวิธีการของการใช้อากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) ที่พบในประเทศไทย พบว่าเริ่มมีการกระทำผิด ซึ่งการกระทำผิดนั้นไม่สามารถระบุตัวตนของผู้กระทำผิดได้ เนื่องจากอากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) ไม่ได้ขึ้นทะเบียน และมีการใช้อากาศยานไร้คนขับ (โดรน) ละเมิดสิทธิส่วนบุคคลโดยการกระทำผิดเกี่ยวกับการถ่ายภาพ และรุกล้ำพื้นที่ส่วนบุคคล ซึ่งยังไม่สามารถเอาผิดได้ จึงทำให้ทราบเพียงว่ามีการกระทำผิด (2) การรับมือเบื้องต้น ปัจจุบันจะมีเครื่องมือที่เรียกว่า Anti Drone ซึ่งอยู่ในการดูแลของทหาร เแต่ยังไม่มีกฎหมายรองรับ (3) แนวทางการป้องกันการกระทำผิด พบว่ายังไม่มีหน่วยงานใดเข้ามาดูแลอย่างจริงจัง ทำให้การกระทำผิดยังเกิดขึ้นบ่อยครั้ง ควรมีหน่วยงานควบคุมดูแลอย่างจริงจัง และออกกฎหรือข้อบังคับเป็นแนวทางเดียวกัน ข้อเสนอแนะ รัฐบาลควรให้ความสำคัญกับหน่วยงานหรือศูนย์ที่จะดูแล ออกกฎหมายหรือนโยบาย จัดการและบริหารควบคุมให้มากขึ้น รวมถึงควรมีการกำหนดหน้าที่ของแต่ละหน่วยงานให้มีความชัดเจน

Despite Thailand’s image as a “living paradise” for LGBTQ+ individuals, empirical research on social acceptance and family formation remains limited. Public discourse has questioned whether the growing visibility of LGBTQ+ populations may contribute to the national fertility decline. Given this context, this study focuses on LGBTQ+ individuals and explores three dimensions: (1) societal tolerance toward LGBTIQAN+ individuals and sexual diversity, (2) public attitudes toward LGBTIQAN+ parenting, and (3) the well-being and family formation intentions of LGBTQ+ individuals. This study seeks to examine and offer potential explanatory frameworks for the apparent phenomenon of right-wing and similar extreme ideologies in the context of the musical subgenre of black metal and its corresponding subculture. Using Robinson’s (2007) analysis of classical symbolic interactionist theorists (Goffman, Cooley, Mead) in the context of digital spaces, this study conducted digital ethnography and discourse analysis of various online forums dealing with black metal and its subculture. Do improved women’s descriptive representation in legislative branches and women’s participation in civil society decrease the intensity of civil conflicts? Is the impact of women’s presence in legislative branches on the conflict intensity magnified by women’s participation in civil society, and vice versa? In this study, we aim to expand the constructivist argument that equal gender roles in politics and civil society can bring about less intensive internal armed conflicts. Slogans on commercial vehicles are a common sight in Ghana. These material artefacts can provide insight into beliefs and values about the sociocultural, spiritual, and political experiences of life in the contemporary Ghanaian context. In this study, we collected and analysed a total of 438 commercial vehicles’ slogans from 5 main transportation terminals in the Accra metropolitan area. Our thematic analysis of these slogans shows a major emphasis on religious and spiritual values to the extent that most of the recorded slogans serve as positive affirmations of religious values and sources of spiritual encouragement. While debate of Ernest Hemingway’s authorial masculine persona in connection to The Garden of Eden has been a point of interest in literary scholarship, no single work has tied together theory of gender performativity to persona. A borderline parodic display of masculine adventure has encouraged a one-dimensional view of Hemingway, who is viewed by audiences as the pinnacle of masculinity. The spread of ayahuasca shamanism throughout the Upper Amazon has become a matter of debate among scholars since, in 1994, anthropologist Peter Gow formulated the controversial suggestion that it could be a recent phenomenon in the Ucayali basin, usually considered the stronghold of a millenary tradition. Following Gow, Brabec de Mori argued that the Shipibo-Conibo people, a paradigmatic example of the antique practice of ayahuasca shamanism, adopted both the brew and the associated shamanic practices in a “relatively recent” past. This study explored if disaster movies change the perceptions viewers hold regarding human behavior in disasters, and if so, whether these effects are observable six weeks after watching the disaster movie. The study documented the anticipation of disaster myths in human behavior for 121 respondents, providing data that can better inform the discussion of disaster myths and realities. The study found changes to anticipation of disaster myths in human behavior and realities across multiple categories, with statistically significant results related to the factor of Looting Myth. Limitations for this study include a small sample size, and the external influence of …

This article compares the trends and theoretical positions found in the recent academic literature on the status and trajectory of transatlantic relations with the beliefs of 96 German and US foreign policy experts. The qualitative data are derived from open-ended in-depth interviews about the political, economic, and cultural factors that influence transatlantic cooperation and friction. Conducted in Berlin in 2011 and in Washington, D.C., in 2017, the interviews correspond with optimist and pessimist perceptions found in the academic literature and align roughly with realist, respectively, liberal/institutionalist and constructivist theoretical positions in International Relations theory and left/right political leanings. This thesis seeks to interrogate the intricacies governing the intra-racial\ intra-gendered relationship of an Afro-Trinidadian woman as she commandeers professional spaces in North America. The intent is to challenge the instrument of Black sisterhood deeming it as an incomplete, social instrument, and to prove using an auto-ethnographic approach how Diasporic, feminine trauma leads to psychically induced, episodic violence that is highly suggestive but subtle to the naked eye which in turn irretrievably damages intra-interpersonal relations. A Blackgirl Artivisionary Mosaic: Art-Based Participatory Refusals To School Punishment, Tyese A. Brown

The study participants were co-research partners and engaged in a Project Based Learning six-week summer project in an urban northeastern metropolis community-based non-profit where they received stipends for participation. This dissertation explored how Blackgirls (aged 14 -21) express their experiences with disparate school punishment through community-based participatory artmaking. We called the photos, poems, collages, sculptures, storyboards, digital art, visual art, songs, spoken word, and videos Artivisions (art I vision). In the Jam Sessions, a subset of the partners we called curators discussed the pieces, shared their experiences, and offered insight into Blackgirls’ responses, coping skills, and decision-making regarding school punishment. …

Student movements have been and continue to be major catalysts for social change. The Puerto Rican student movement at The City University of New York (CUNY) during the late 1960s and early 1970s played a central role in desegregating CUNY—the largest urban university system in the United States—and establishing Black and Puerto Rican studies departments throughout the CUNY system. Student-activists also agitated for participatory democracy and community control of university institutions. Despite the movement’s intellectual contributions and its impact on higher education, it has received little scholarly attention.
