The analysis of communities as optimum sub-societal aggregates, and their distribution and organization in terms of regional groupings is the focus of this paper and of the research undertaken. Developing nations have constantly to cope with nature and effective implementation of their development plans as they strive to add a measure of productivity and progress to their names while trying to overcome the chronic internal problems of overpopulation, underutilization of resources, unemployment, hunger and poor health and education. In late 19^th century America, new schools of criminological thinking asserted that crime had its origins in a complex blend of environmental and social factors rather than in the moral deficiencies of the offender. Partly as a result of this new attitude the handling of offenses by juveniles became differentiated from adult cases, first through the construction of separate penal institutions and, beginning in 1899, through the establishment of courts specializing in juvenile cases.

Identity is a label used to describe a person in a particular situation as being a kind of social object. A person announces his identity and others place him as having this identity on the basis of his appearance. Structural relations have been defined as relations where one may enter by using a title, while interpersonal relations are entered by using a name or nickname. The specific purpose of this study is to examine various definitions of sociology since the invention of the term. From this examination, an attempt will be made to determine the extent of agreement among sociologists as to what sociology means. The Procedure: Chapter II, Part A, is concerned with the early European conceptions of sociology, from Comte through Pareto. The extent of agreement among these conceptions is examined. Part B is concerned with the extent of agreement of the early American Conceptions of sociology. Part C examines definitions found in Introductory texts from 1921 through 1950. This thesis will focus on what Mechanic terms "cultural and social aspects of medical care"; more specifically, it is the layman's evaluation of medical practitioners and practices. Medical practices are defined as the behavior directed toward maintenance or improvement of health while medical orientation designates the cognitive and affective attitudes toward health care.

This document explores the sociological and psychological dimensions of death in modern society, specifically examining how contemporary American culture handles mortality. It begins by highlighting death as a taboo subject, noting that technocratic advancements have increasingly isolated the dying individual and complicated the definition of death through life-prolonging machinery and organ transplantation. The author references various philosophers and psychologists, such as Freud and Heidegger, to argue that individuals often maintain an intellectual acceptance of mortality while emotionally denying their own personal demise.

Relationship Of The Self-Concept To Selected Measures Of Performance Among Male Navajo Students At Intermountain School, Melvern Eugene Graham

The relationship of various measures of high school performance and a measure of the self-concept were examined for the 1970-71 senior male students at Intermountain School, Brigham City, Utah. Some significant correlations were found.

Their junior year vocational training grade and grade point average were found to be significantly correlated to their self-definition score, as ere all but one of the teachers' subjective evaluations.

General aptitude, reading ability, previous years at Intermountain, and class grouping were not found to show any significant correlation with the self-definition test score. Age was found to be correlated at the .01 level with the …
