The Relation Of Certain Factors In Farm Family Life To Personality Development In Adolescents, Leland H. Stott
The Relation Of Certain Factors In Farm Family Life To Personality Development In Adolescents, Leland H. Stott
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
Although "the family" has been much written about, and studied from many points of view in the past, relatively little attention has been given by investigators to the problem of determining the factors which make for successful family life. The need for information of this sort is obvious, and in recent years a few studies have been made from this point of view. The present study was undertaken for the purpose of gathering further information about "normal" families and some of the home-environmental factors which are thought to contribute to, or hinder, the achievement of successful family life.

Development Of Public Assistance In Louisiana., Marianna Evans
Development Of Public Assistance In Louisiana., Marianna Evans
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
The purpose of this study is to show how a public assistance program has developed to meet the needs of a rapidly urbanizing society, and how, in Louisiana, this program has evolved from an incidental, casual, and uncertain activity of local governing units to an integrated, well-organized governmental function.
Legislative provisions for aid to dependent individuals form the base of the study; statistical information concerning the extent of assistance and explanation of the administrative organization of the various public assistance agencies bring out the sociological implications of a public assistance program.
The activities of Louisiana’s unemployment relief agencies of the …

Juvenile Delinquency Of Ellis County, Kansas, 1900-1937, Harry R. Pollock
Juvenile Delinquency Of Ellis County, Kansas, 1900-1937, Harry R. Pollock
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
This study of juvenile delinquency contains 184 cases and covers a period of 57 years, from 1881 to 1938 . The case history of each delinquent was secured from the State Industrial School for Boys at Topeka, Kansas, The State Industrial School for Girls at Beloit, Kansas, and the State Industrial Reformatory at Hutchinson, Kansas. The institutional records also contained the parole reports. The boys were located, their present occupation determined, and their school and church records determined where possible. As there are no records in the probate court concerning the cases, the writer was compelled to compile the records …

Criminal Cases In Ellis County, Kansas, 1867-1937, Wallace F. Baker
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
Many articles have been written on crime and its problems. There is only one true way by which crime maybe studied , and that is by analysis and investigation. In this thesis the purpose of the writer had been to investigate the kind and number of cases that have passed through the district court. Those cases receiving fines and jail sentences necessitated a search of the records to find if the sentences were served and the fines paid . The history of Ellis County was used to give the reader a background for consideration of the cases. Two kinds of …

Prison Labor, Jean Polewsky
Prison Labor, Jean Polewsky
Bachelors’ Theses
For many years past the problems of prison labor have been the subject of frequent national and international discussions. Innumerable books dealing with various phases of prison labor have been written. Many of them discuss the systems, the history, the legislature and the operation of prison labor. Few, if any, give a complete understanding of the system of prison labor as it did exist and as it does exist at the present day. It is for this reason that the writer wishes to discuss prison labor and bring together all important material on the subject. By this means the writer …

The Criminal Cases Of Russell County, Kansas, Clyde Leon Dutt
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
The gathering of criminal statistics has long been recognized as a need and a valuable aid to the federal, state and county officials and to students who desire information over a period of years of the history of a municipality or other governmental area. The primary aim of the writer of this thesis has been to investigate all the criminal case s of Russell County so far as offenses against the law have been prosecuted in the district court. The data presented covers the entire history of the country, finding the total number of cases for the sixty-five years, then …
