Rural communities in Utah continue to lose large numbers of their population. Counties with the highest birth rate are, in the main, those which have decreased most or remained relatively stationary in recent years. Rural migration presents a problem to the communities involved and to the individuals who move.

In 1951-58 American colleges and universities will graduate approximately two hundred thousand students, of which approximately three hundred will be graduated in Stockton, California--and will present them face to face with their prospective employers. Technically most of these students will be well qualified for their respective positions. The chemist will be qualified for further research; the doctor will be qualified to practice medicine; and the lawyer will be ready to defend his first client. Social Implications Of Weather Modification, Orville E. Lanham
Agricultural Experiment Station Rural Sociology Pamphlets (1940-1977)
From the research reviewed, several generalizations may be derived. Some degree of caution is to be used as these generalizations are drawn mostly from the studies of three researchers (Lanham, Larson, Haas). Through personal interaction these researchers have cooperated in the design of the basic interview instrument and sample design. Thus, with some common units of measurement the results of the three studies can be compared across time and space. [1] The studies indicate that the public has little knowledge of weather modification. [2] The studies show favorable attitudes and support for cloud seeding programs. [3] The research findings are …
