The Faith Of Their Fathers: A Study Of The Religious Influence In Child-Rearing, Phillip R. Kunz

Theses and Dissertations

Although there have been several significant studies during recent years concerning methods of child-rearing, little has been done to ascertain what influence an ideology may have on child-rearing patterns, or whether there are unique patterns of child-rearing within a specific subculture.

Specifically, the purpose of this research is to answer the following questions: (1) What influence, if any, does the L.D.S. religious ideology have on child-rearing behavior, and (2) what are some of the patterns of child-rearing in the L.D.S. subculture.

Voluntary Associations Among Negroes In Lincoln, Nebraska, Ralph V. Thompson Jun 1961

Voluntary Associations Among Negroes In Lincoln, Nebraska, Ralph V. Thompson

Open Access Master's Theses (through 2010)

In almost every study undertaken, socio-economic status has been found to be a factor that is significantly related to memberships in voluntary associations. One of our major interests will be to discover whether or not such a relationship exists among the universe of Negro subjects from which the sample has been drawn. We will test such a relationship in this study.

Some Relations Of School And Family In American Culture, Robert F. Spencer Jan 1961

Some Relations Of School And Family In American Culture, Robert F. Spencer

Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science

Virtually any statement made about the contemporary American system of education can be subjected to infinite documentation. What the school should accomplish, what is has accomplished, what its curricula ought to be, how far it should or has become a kind of surrogate for the family, church or other institution, emerge as vital questions for the professional educators, questions, clearly, for which there is no single answer. Judgments become normative, ameliorative, critical, and certainly, nearly always fraught with overtones of emotionalism. This leaves the non-specialist who attempts to gain an over-view of the nature and image of the educator and …
