It is the thesis of this paper the the Church possesses traits which are characteristic of the human personality; therefore, her spiritual movement can be understood and dealt with through insights of the Oedipus Complex Theory initially described by Sigmund Freud in his discussion of personality development, greatly elaborated upon by Erich Fromm in his book, The Forgotten Language.

Nevada Southern Presents Fifth Annual Holiday Basketball Classic, University Of Nevada, Las Vegas

UNLV Basketball Programs

One of the positive ways the image of Las Vegas is being changed locally and throughout the nation is the emphasis placed on its excellent school system from kindergarten through Nevada Southern University. Southern Nevada, like many communities throughout the United States, is fast coming to realize that the development of a successful intercollegiate athletic program as an important part of the total educational program, is providing a sound national reputation which is contributing directly to the physical and academic growth of the school-and to the area.

The benefits of this concentration on education, especially at the college level, can …

Mayo Dental Morphology, Val K. Artress

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

The Mayo Indian of Sonora, Mexico, was selected for a study of dental morphology. The objectives of the investigation were to determine the extent to which the Mayo conformed to the four criteria of the Mongoloid dental master pattern, and to compare eight other specific tooth morphologic characteristics with like studies on Mongoloid and non-Mongoloid peoples. Plaster casts were made on a sample of forty-one Mayos.

The results of the study indicate that Mayos exhibit a 46 percent frequency of shovel-shape maxillary incisors, classifying "moderate shovel" and "shovel" together. The maxillary central-lateral width difference of 1.5 mm is small compared …

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

Lateral head x-rays were obtained on selected samples of 24 Chamula, 29 Mayo and 39 Navajo Indians for cephalometric comparison.

Cephalometric evaluation was carried out by means of the Bjork analysis. Mean values for each of the Indian groups were determined and compared with each other and with the mean values of a group of Swedish conscripts studied by Bjork. The mean values were statistically analyzed and and subjected to the Student's "t" test to determine the significant levels of differences.

Results revealed that in comparing the three Indian groups significant differences do appear. They are few and general concordance …

The Use Of "Fashion Therapy" As Adjunctive Therapy In The Rehabilitation Of Psychiatric Patients, Virginia Geddes Eyestone May 1965

The Use Of "Fashion Therapy" As Adjunctive Therapy In The Rehabilitation Of Psychiatric Patients, Virginia Geddes Eyestone

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Mental illness is one of the greatest public health problems and foremost challenges of our time. However, because of improved medical practices and modern research methods, more mental patients are now being released and returned to society than at any other recorded period.

The mentally ill person loses touch with reality. Things that once were of primary concern are no longer important. Many mental patients become accustomed to carelessness in dress and personal habits. This state of deterioration often remains as a mark of mental illness, and the resulting inappropriate dress frequently limits the activity of the individual. The patient …

The Developmental History Of A Social Action Program, Action For Appalachian Youth, Kanawha County, West Virginia, Michael E. Kearney Jan 1965

The Developmental History Of A Social Action Program, Action For Appalachian Youth, Kanawha County, West Virginia, Michael E. Kearney

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Today there are great and ever increasing opportunities for progressive communities to work out solutions to their common social problems and to build a better life for all their citizens. Financial aid is not lacking. It is available from a large array of private and governmental agencies and often these funds go begging for want of community interest and innovative ideas. It is felt therefore that the presentation of one community's experience might be helpful to others by providing an example of what can be done.

The beginning of the process is an idea. By following this idea from its …

Polygamy In Utah And Surrounding Area Since The Manifesto Of 1890, Jerold A. Hilton Jan 1965

Polygamy In Utah And Surrounding Area Since The Manifesto Of 1890, Jerold A. Hilton

Theses and Dissertations

I selected this topic in 1962 primarily from curiosity to discover the facts concerning present day polygamy in Utah, allegedly still abundant. Perhaps the motivation may be described as an amateur detective's zeal. Considerable material seemed to be available about polygamy in Utah before 1890, when the practice was mostly abandoned by the Mormon people, but, apparently, little has been written on this subject covering the period since that date. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to cover polygamy in Utah and close proximity from 1890 to the present (1965). Its scope includes: first, continued plural marriages for two …
