Social Experience And Moral Judgment In East African Young Adults, Carolyn P. Edwards
Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies: Faculty Publications
Relationships between stage of moral judgment and antecedent social experiences are presented for a non-Western sample of young adults. Crosssectional data are presented for two groups of Kenyan students: 52 University of Nairobi students; and 40 fourth form secondary school Ss. Critical variables are (a) family modernization, (b) attending ethnically pluralistic secondary schools, and (c) living independently away from home. The correlations between moral judgment stage and these three variables are controlled for, and compared to, correlations between stage of moral judgment and age, sex, race, and academic ability (as measured by standardized achievement tests or by grades). An Exploratory Investigation Of The Relationship Between Personality And Intelligence With Community-Living And Institutionalized Elderly Females, Richard D. Stolp
An Exploratory Investigation Of The Relationship Between Personality And Intelligence With Community-Living And Institutionalized Elderly Females, Richard D. Stolp
Masters Theses
The Hand Test and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale were administered to 25 institutionalized (Mage = 80.00) and 25 community-living (Mage = 72.92) elderly females to investigate personality differences between the two groups, and to explore the relationship between personality and intelligence in regard to the aged. It was discussed that the results of the present study should be interpreted with caution, since significant age and educational differences were found between the groups that may have contributed to the results. The hypothesis concerning greater personality deterioration in institutionalized subjects than in community-living subjects was given partial support inasmuch as depletion …

Saturation Patrol As A Deterrent To Crime, Erasmo J. Compatore
Saturation Patrol As A Deterrent To Crime, Erasmo J. Compatore
Master's Theses
In the United States, the rendering of police service is carried out by some of the world's finest forces which operate immediately adjacent to other agencies which have made no earnest move toward improving their methods in field operations since World War II. These deficient agencies seem to cling to tradition and oppose change even when innovations exist which have been shown to be more effective than present methods or when present methods are shown to be ineffective.
It is not surprising, therefore, that only in the last few years has the academician been considered of importance to law enforcement. …
Heritage, Johannes Knudsen
Heritage, Johannes Knudsen
The Bridge
The term "heritage" brings up associations of "heredity" and this again reminds us of genes and the genetic code. Heritage in this sense is terribly important. We are programmed by our genes. Our appearance and condition are pre-determined in many ways, ranging from the color of our eyes to the state of our health and the potential of our mind, and including negative as well as positive features. Genetic heritage can be a blessing and it can be a burden. It has the greatest significance for the individual, but is also an important corporate factor. Ethnic groups have genetic features …
