Investigating Volatility Spillover Between The Energy Market And The Sectoral Stock Markets In Malaysia: Evidence From Vhar-Type Models, Mariam Mohamed Abdelwahab Mohamed Badawi, Sew Lai Ng, Ruzanna Ab Razak
International Journal of Management, Finance and Accounting
This study examines the realised volatility spillover effects between Malaysia's energy market and other sectoral indices on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange from September 2018 to December 2024. To address the limitations of current volatility modelling approaches, this study employs the Vector Heterogeneous Autoregressive (VHAR) model combined with the Realised Range-Based Volatility (RRV) measure to capture heterogeneous market behaviours at daily, weekly, and monthly time horizons. High-frequency data from September 2018 to December 2024 (earlier data are unavailable for some sectors) were collected from the financial data provider Bloomberg. The findings reveal that the energy sector exhibits strong volatility persistence, …

Journal of Public Health in the Deep South
The death rate among children and adolescents, 14-26 years old, from firearms has increased 46% from 2019 to 2021. Among this demographic population, Black and Latino youth account for most firearm deaths. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines were used in conducting this study. Studies from January 2020 to October 2025 were identified through a search of PubMed, Web of Science, and ProQuest databases. Searches for the review included but were not limited to terms and phrases such as “gun violence prevention interventions for youth” and “firearm violence prevention interventions.” The purpose of this systematic …

Violence And Abuse Against Adult Stroke Survivors In The Deep South: Epidemiology, Risk, And Public Health Responses, Dawn S. Mclendon, Shaneka S. Patterson, Shreyas Gangadhara
Journal of Public Health in the Deep South
Adults living with neurologic disability, particularly stroke survivors, face disproportionately high rates of violence and abuse. This vulnerability is amplified in the Deep South due to elevated stroke burden, structural disadvantage, and persistent community-level disparities in both violence and health care access. We conducted a narrative review of peer-reviewed literature indexed in PubMed, along with relevant surveillance and policy reports, to synthesize current evidence on the burden, patterns, risk factors, and prevention opportunities related to violence among adult stroke survivors. The review focused on elder mistreatment, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, caregiver abuse and neglect, and financial exploitation. Findings indicate …

Archives And Children's Knowledge, Elliott Kuecker, Ashley Rockenbach
Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies
This article argues for the importance of collecting works created by children—not just about and not just for—in formal archival collections. Framed through the ideas of legitimate knowledge and epistemic injustice, this piece combines notions important to children’s rights activists and childhood studies scholars with the role archives can play in preserving children’s knowledge through child-created materials. The authors describe how researchers struggle to find work created by children within archives, impacting the ability to create child-centered research that centers children’s views of the world as prominently as adult views of the world. Some collections that do include child-created materials …

This study examines whether individuals’ exposure to and trust in COVID-19 vaccine misinformation can be used to segment audiences and explain variations in vaccine hesitancy and health beliefs. Using k-means clustering, a survey of 819 U.S. college students (March–May 2021) identifies four subgroups based on combinations of high or low misinformation exposure and trust: misinformation-shielded (low exposure, low trust), misinformation-vulnerable (low exposure, high trust), misinformation-resistant (high exposure, low trust), and misinformation-accepting (high exposure, high trust). These subgroups differ significantly in political ideology, vaccine hesitancy, and health beliefs. The misinformation-shielded subgroup reports more liberal views, lower hesitancy, and higher perceived efficacy, …
