The Octofoil is the offical publication of the Ninth Infantry Division Association, Inc., an organization formed by the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division in order to perpetuate the memory of fallen comrades, preserve the esprit de corps of the Division, promote peace and serve as an information bureau about the 9th Infantry Division. The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

The Aids Memorial Quilt: Performing Memory, Piecing Action, Gregg Stull
Theatre and Dance Articles
The history of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, over forty thousand quilt panels to memorialize those who have died of AIDS, is examined. Topics include the conception of the memorial idea in San Francisco, CA, in 1985, a display of the quilt at the National Mall in Washington D.C., the continual growth in the size of the quilt, and efforts at conserving the quilt panels.

The Rhetoric And Reality Of Famine In Early Modern Europe, Karen Russell Adams
History Theses & Dissertations
Famine in early modern Europe was a reoccurring phenomenon that caused stress on individuals and their societies. In most historical accounts of famine, authors have placed emphasis on either the physical aspects of starvation, including studies of famine victims, both live and post mortem, or the disastrous effects of such crises on demographics. On occasion, a researcher has instead probed the accounts of famine left behind by its victims. This essay is an attempt to correlate famine narratives with the biological aspects of starvation.
In order to blend the physical and social aspects of famine, this researcher has investigated three …

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 100. Correspondence of the Harris family of Simpson County, Kentucky. Consists chiefly of World War I letters sent from two brothers, George DeWitt Harris and Downey L. Harris, to their parents, George Calvin Harris and Amanda J. Harris, of Franklin, Kentucky. George DeWitt Harris was injured in World War I and died at Epionville, France on 7 October 1918.

On April 22, 2001 Rebecca Moor interviewed William Nichols, a World War II paramedic, for a class project dealing with oral histories and capturing the history of the Miami Valley. In July 1979, Anastasio Somoza Garcia fled Nicaragua, signaling the beginning of a true revolution, in every sense of the word. The triumph of the Nicaraguan Revolution hinged primarily on the development of a broad-based opposition coalition that included workers, peasants, the bourgeoisie and conservative upper-classes, students, and Catholic Christians. For centuries the Catholic Church in Nicaragua had maintained a mutually supportive relationship with the State. In the mid-1960s, however, a social movement began to sweep through the Church at the grassroots, causing the foundations of the Church-State relationship to shift dramatically.
