The Impact Of Custom On Defining The Essence Of Possession And Its Applications In Banking Institution Transactions, Mohammed Tarira
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This research is divided into three main sections. The first section addresses the concept of custom, its authority, and the conditions necessary for its recognition. The second section explores the concept of possession, its methods, and its effects on contracts. The third section examines the impact of custom on defining the essence of possession and its applications in the transactions of Islamic banking institutions. Economic Protection From An Islamic Economic Perspective, Nabeela Al-Alwanah, Adnan Rababah
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
The study aimed to explain the theoretical and jurisprudential foundations of protectionist policies in both man-made and Islamic economies. The study concluded that economic protection involves the state’s use of its legislative and executive powers to direct and develop its economy, taking the necessary measures and methods to regulate internal and external exchanges, protect domestic production, and preserve its national market. Additionally, the study found that economic protection is grounded in its legal basis, based on the principle of the legal policy followed by the leadership of any country to manage national affairs. It is intended to serve the public …
Proposals For Reforming The International Monetary System From The Islamic Economy Perspective, Wejdan Al-Soudy
Proposals For Reforming The International Monetary System From The Islamic Economy Perspective, Wejdan Al-Soudy
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This research aims to examine various monetary systems proposed by economists in the literature and evaluate proposals within the Islamic economy for reforming the monetary system. The study concludes that money has increasingly become an end in itself rather than a tool for exchange or a standard for measuring value, leading to disruptions in both local and international monetary systems. Additionally, the dominance of the U.S. dollar as the global currency has contributed to numerous international crises. Consequently, most reform proposals in the literature seek to establish a new international monetary system capable of addressing and mitigating these disruptions.
Wife’S Alimony During The Waiting Period: Fiqh Jurisprudence Vs. Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 Of 2010, Mohammad Al-Jablai
Wife’S Alimony During The Waiting Period: Fiqh Jurisprudence Vs. Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 Of 2010, Mohammad Al-Jablai
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
The present study explores and examines the views of Fiqh scholars regarding matters related to the wife’s alimony during the waiting period in cases of divorce or death, with particular emphasis on the methods of its payment. These opinions are then compared to the relevant articles in the Jordanian Marital Status Law to identify similarities and differences in relation to traditional Fiqh sources. To this end, a scientific approach is adopted to quote, document, discuss, and reconcile these perspectives. The study concludes that the law aligns with the priority and choice methods based on the principles and objectives of Sharia, …
Unique Provisions Of Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 Of 2010 In Divorce, Differing From The Four Fiqh Schools, Mohammad Al-Jablai
Unique Provisions Of Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 Of 2010 In Divorce, Differing From The Four Fiqh Schools, Mohammad Al-Jablai
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
The present study examines certain provisions in the Divorce Section of Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 of 2010, in which legislative choices diverge from those made by mainstream scholars within the four Fiqh schools. The study investigates the intentions of the Jordanian legislator through a review of this section. It is found that there are only three such cases, which notably present a different perspective. The researcher recommends a thorough review of the religious basis underlying the law’s choice concerning future-included divorce, specifically Article 87, Paragraph (b), due to ambiguities in its wording. This aligns with the same jurisprudential …
Employing Endowment Instruments In Attaining Sustainable Development: The Social Responsibility Of Mosques In Jordan As A Model, Iyad Nemer
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
The world is now turning towards sustainable development that preserves natural resources, the rights and wealth of future generations, protects the environment, and reduces pollution. The social responsibility of Waqf, or "consecrated," Mosques in Islam aligns with these objectives by emphasizing the role of the Mosque and its importance in shaping public opinion and raising awareness among society members about issues related to social, environmental, economic, and other areas. This research highlights the dimensions of the social responsibility of Waqf Mosques in both ancient and modern times and their connection to sustainable development from an Islamic perspective, including a presentation …

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
The research addresses one of the most contemporary issues in legacies, specifically concerning the regulation of the inheritance of digital services and rights—a product of the technological revolution in applications, software, networking sites, electronic databases, and more, which have developed significantly in recent times where the language of numbers has become an independent realm. In referencing scholars' views on legacy issues, the researcher aims to shed light on a type of legacy situated between abstract financial assets and personal rights, termed as "the two similarities legacy." This is accompanied by an attempt to demonstrate the parallels and likenesses between digital …

Logical Intelligence In Light Of The Prophetic Sunnah, Asma Bani Amer
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study focuses on an aspect related to the text of the Hadith, known as the subject-related Hadith. Specifically, it examines the Hadiths concerning what is called motor intelligence, in light of the Prophetic Sunnah. Modern education has paid attention to what is called multiple intelligences, including: bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, which is one of the forms of intelligence that emphasizes physical skills and athletic abilities. This aspect holds great importance in the Sunnah; therefore, the study aims to clarify the concept of motor intelligence, the extent of Islam’s concern with this aspect, and its most prominent expressions in light of the …

Literary And Artistic Property Rights Between Regular Courts And Administrative Courts: A Comparative Study Of Jordan And Egypt, Noor Al-Hindi
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study addresses literary and artistic property rights within the context of the ordinary and administrative judiciary, focusing on the legal framework for the deposit of these rights under the Jordanian and Egyptian Copyright and Neighboring Rights Protection Laws. The research findings indicate that legal deposit is an obligation of the rights holders of the work to submit a copy of the published work to a government authority. In Egypt, the rights holder is required to submit a licensing application to the General Department for the Control of Works, accompanied by certain data. The department is responsible for maintaining records …

The God Prompt And Deus Ex Machina: Techno-Theological Tropes And Operational Metaphors In Generative Media, James Hutson
The God Prompt And Deus Ex Machina: Techno-Theological Tropes And Operational Metaphors In Generative Media, James Hutson
Faculty Scholarship
This study reframes two durable tropes—the ―God Prompt‖ and the deus ex machina—as analytic lenses for understanding how contemporary generative systems stage beginnings and endings of cultural production. The ―God Prompt‖ denotes command-driven synthesis in which minimal textual instructions instantiate content on demand, crystallizing a production loop of input, model execution, and post hoc evaluation that orients anticipation toward instantaneous yield and controllable variation. The deus ex machina names an externally imposed resolution that interrupts causal development—historically a crane-borne god, functionally an algorithmic override—thereby concentrating attention on closure mechanics rather than world-building continuity. Read together, the pair offers a compact …

Local Identity In The Lives Of The Fathers Of Mérida: When Ethnicity And Religion Aren’T The Point, Erica Buchberger
Local Identity In The Lives Of The Fathers Of Mérida: When Ethnicity And Religion Aren’T The Point, Erica Buchberger
History Faculty Publications
While scholarship on early medieval Europe often centers ethnicity or religion over other forms of identity, they were not always the most relevant form of identification for contemporaries. In the Lives of the Fathers of Mérida (late sixth-early seventh century), ethnic and religious identity were actually deployed to construct a local identity around the space and people of the city. This article explores how the text did so by closely analyzing terms used and their context, and by applying social scientific theories of boundary construction to illuminate the strategies of identification behind it. It argues that such an approach …
The Mercy Seat Of The Risen Christ: Atonement And The Glory Of God In Romans 3:21-26, David Westfall
The Mercy Seat Of The Risen Christ: Atonement And The Glory Of God In Romans 3:21-26, David Westfall
Faculty Work Comprehensive List
Scholarship on Romans 3.21–26 typically isolates the death of Jesus on the cross as the moment when Paul says the righteousness of God was disclosed, leading to the justification of all who believe the gospel. In this paper I argue that, although the death of Christ relates in important ways to Paul’s claims in the paragraph, this reading does not fully account for his metaphorical description of Christ as a ‘mercy seat’ (ἱλαστήριον), nor his assertion that those who believe are ‘justified through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus’. I show that Paul uses this language and imagery to …
