This thesis seeks to examine in detail Israel' s hopes for the future as they find expression in the Latter Prophets. More specifically, this thesis seeks to investigate the precise forms in which and by which Israel expressed her hopes. It attempts to isolate and to examine the many varying pictures which Israel used to portray her hopes and, to the degree that the material at hand permits, to bring these varying pictures together into something of an organized whole.

In Kansas City, Faith Lutheran Church had long been serving the Northeast Neighborhood in its direct and straightforward way when, in July of 1965, the newly-created Office of Economic Opportunity decided, upon petition by the church, to devote a portion of its funds to this predominantly Negro, lower-income area of the city. What is true here of von Rad seems to be true generally of biblical scholarship; to the writer's knowledge, there has been no significant attempt to isolate the various prophetic protests and to study them as a literary or theological unity. Most of the concern has centered in Jeremiah's protests. Upon further study it has impressed the writer that a correlated study of all prophetic protest may provide a helpful tool in understanding the office of the prophet. It is from this perspective that the present study of prophetic protest was pursued and is now offered.

A History Of Mormon Missionary Work With The Hopi, Navaho And Zuni Indians, David Kay Flake

Through their contacts with the Utes and other local tribes the Mormon people became aware of the presence of the Hopis, Navahos and Zunis soon after their arrival in the Great Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Their first actual contact with the Navahos occurred in connection with their Elk Mountain Indian Mission near what is now Moab, Utah, in 1855. During that same year another Indian mission was established in the Cedar City area called the Southern Indian Mission. As president of this mission in 1858, Jacob Hamblin led the first exploring-missionary party to the Hopi villages. Succeeding visits to …
