Communication Principles In Pastoral Counseling, Dieter Joel Jagnow
Communication Principles In Pastoral Counseling, Dieter Joel Jagnow
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
There are many elements involved in a pastoral counseling process. A handbook would include all or some topics such as a definition of pastoral counseling, its distinctive nature, its objectives, counseling techniques, and the role of God's Word in the process. In this thesis we will touch some of the basic topics of pastoral counseling. However, the main purpose is to approach an important ingredient of pastoral counseling that usually is not included as a separate topic in counseling manuals, that is, communication, particularly interpersonal communication.
This study intends to explore the pastoral counseling process as an interpersonal communication process …

Discernment Of Spirits, Michael J. Buckley S.J.
Discernment Of Spirits, Michael J. Buckley S.J.
Jesuit School of Theology
The capacity for the discernment of spirits responds to a profound expectation and a pervasive temptation within Christianity. All human beings who search for God want God to guide their lives, and Christians have been taught normatively to expect "to be guided by the Spirit" (Gal 5: 18; Rom 8: 14).

Doctor of Ministry Projects
Problem. This project report addresses the problem of lack of practicum of a spiritual formation for students at the seminary of Collonges-sous-Saleve, France.
Method. The project report is developed in four stages as follows: First, it investigates how spirituality was approached in the Roman Catholic as well as the mainline Protestant milieu. Second, it explores the Seventh-day Adventist background of spirituality. Third, it focuses on the Pastoral Epistles with regard to Paul's spiritual concerns for the leaders of the church. Four, it recognizes other needs of seminary students that must be considered in the light of spirituality.
Results. This report …
An Exploration Of A.A.'S Twelve Step Spirituality For The Purpose Of Communicating A Right Understanding Of Law And Gospel To Recovering Lutheran Alcoholics, Gary Galen
Doctor of Ministry Major Applied Project
This study addresses presenting Law and Gospel to recovering Lutheran alcoholics in the Twelve Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Twelve Steps offer a spirituality which has often caused confusion among confessional Lutherans. This involved interviewing recovering Lutheran alcoholics, non-alcoholic Lutherans and clergy. The Twelve Steps were evaluated according to Law and Gospel. A brief study of the influence of American Civil Religion and Two Kingdom Theology gave a backdrop in which to place the Twelve Steps. Practical ways in which pastors and congregations could better minister to recovering Lutheran alcoholics were included.

Doctor of Ministry Projects
Problem. The problem addressed by this developmental project is inadequate spirituality among Adventist ministers in Zimbabwe as observed by the researcher and expressed by other colleagues in the ministry. The study pursued is not simply academic, but is designed to meet the need for enhanced spirituality in the lives and practice of Adventist ministers in Zimbabwe, and is to be tested and refined by use in an actual program of ministerial formation.

Viewpoints: In Dialogue With Hindus? My Experience And Reflections, Sr. Vandana
Journal of Hindu-Christian Studies
Today, in our pluralistic global village, with its technological civilization, ecological disasters, socio-economic-political oppression apparently crumbling churches, and religion seemingly becoming increasingly redundant especially in the West, wondrous vistas are opened up in the spiritual world. For, I do believe, that as religions in past centuries often served to divide us, in the coming decades and century, spirituality will unite us more and more. "Indeed the hour is coming and is already here ... when the Father will be worshipped in spirit and in truth" (John 4.23-24), irrespective of religions. Today too, it is hardly possible to be a good …
