The Anti-Theatrical Prejudice And The Quakers, Michael P. Graves
The Anti-Theatrical Prejudice And The Quakers, Michael P. Graves
Truth's Bright Embrace: Essays and Poems in Honor of Arthur O. Roberts
Today's Quakers are considerably less "hard-shelled" and "mole-eyed" and there are signs on both sides of the Atlantic that the Society of Friends has made progress toward making peace with the theatre. Indeed, one could argue that the situation has changed radically in the last three hundred fifty years, but there remains an ambiguity at best, an antipathy at worst, between Quaker thought and the theatre. This topic is too broad to be encompassed within the limits of this essay, which can merely open doors slightly to a subject that should be treated in more depth at another time and …

A Study Of The Paternal Absenteeism Among The Oji-Cree People, Clair E. Schnupp
A Study Of The Paternal Absenteeism Among The Oji-Cree People, Clair E. Schnupp
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
This study investigated the phenomenon of paternal absenteeism among the Oji-Cree First Nations of northwestern Ontario and northeastern Manitoba, Canada. Five hundred and four leaders were listed from twenty-eight communities. From this population of leaders, forty-five were chosen as a sample population by systematic sampling to represent the 504 leaders. Every leader had an equal chance of being chosen. Twenty-three percent were female and seventy-seven percent were male.
The first part of the research was designed to provide social scientific data on the perception Native leaders held on the reality and extent of paternal absenteeism. The second part of this …

The Use Of Referrals For Therapeutic Counseling By Catholic Parish Priests And The Implications For Clinical Social Workers, Mary Anne Zapor
Theses Digitization Project
This positivist research design project focused on the question: How do parish priests deal with people who are in need of therapeutic counseling? Central to this study was the hypothesis, that priests refer people to professionals, when there is no conflict expected between values and morals of the church and the values and moral of the professional therapist.

Resources For The Church In The Prevention Of Suicide, Robert Ian Cuthbertson
Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)
This paper is an analysis of the history and signifcance of suicide in relation to the church and its mission to be "the salt of the earth". It will be an analysis of the types of suicide and its frequency in Canada. The paper will also review the resources, both literary and community, which are available for the minister. Interviews were conducted with ministers of various denominations, primarily in the Hamilton Region to determine the extent of their contact with suicidal situations. General Education: Why Do We Need It, And Where Did It Come From?, Calvin Jongsma
General Education: Why Do We Need It, And Where Did It Come From?, Calvin Jongsma
Faculty Work Comprehensive List
General education is one of those things that everyone knows how to fix but no one is able to do anything about. Woodrow Wilson’s comment about changing the college curriculum, made while he was president of Princeton University, is particularly apt of general education: reforming it “is as difficult as moving a graveyard.” Committees can study the issue for ages and make numerous erudite reports, but when all is said and done, more is said than done. Many reforms meet the standard voiced by Groucho Marx: “there is less here than meets the eye.” It is far easier to resist …
