A Study And Analysis Of The Bible Lands Travelogue-Archaeological Approach In Public Evangelism, Victor A. Schulz Jan 1979

A Study And Analysis Of The Bible Lands Travelogue-Archaeological Approach In Public Evangelism, Victor A. Schulz

Doctor of Ministry Projects

To investigate the method of a selected number of evangelists who are using the Bible lands travelogue-archaeological approach, to ascertain what they consider as the most significant and seemingly effective characteristics of their methods was the purpose of this project. Then, incorporating these findings, to develop an approach that may help the author and other evangelists to use this method effectively in public evangelism, has been the problem under investigation in this study.

The project was organized into three main parts. The first searches for a justification for a Bible lands travelogue approach. The second analyzes the method as it …

An Exploratory Examination Of Age, Attitudes Toward Death, Experience With Death, And The Christian Religion, Barbara L. Sanders Dec 1978

An Exploratory Examination Of Age, Attitudes Toward Death, Experience With Death, And The Christian Religion, Barbara L. Sanders

Theses

This exploratory study by Barbara L. Sanders investigates the complex relationships between age, personal experiences with death, attitudes toward mortality, and Christian religious beliefs. Motivated by personal and professional encounters with individuals across the lifespan, the author seeks to understand how these variables interrelate and challenge commonly held assumptions—such as the belief that Christians are more accepting of death or that children fear death more due to inexperience.

The research was conducted through a questionnaire distributed among 60 participants across three distinct age groups: adolescents (10–15), adults in their early middle years (36–49), and older adults (65+). The questionnaire assessed …

A Theology Of Weakness: Word Studies From The Greek Text Of Ii Corinithians 12:9 In Context With Exegesis Of Seven Select Passages Of Scripture, Marva J. Sedore May 1978

A Theology Of Weakness: Word Studies From The Greek Text Of Ii Corinithians 12:9 In Context With Exegesis Of Seven Select Passages Of Scripture, Marva J. Sedore

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

Excerpt: "In his commentary on the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians , R. C. H. Lenski proposes that the verb teleo in II Corinthians 12 :9 is mistranslated . Whereas most translations say, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness , " Lenski believes that the last phrase should read, "for the power is brought to its finish in weakness." It seems that he stands unsupported in this conviction, for my research uncovered no other commentator who suggested such an interpretation."

Toward The Construction Of Theology: Response To Richard Mckeon, Michael J. Buckley S.J.

Religious Studies

The accomplishment of genius is both resource and inspiration: resource, because achievement lies like an endless quarry from which the future will draw and with which it will build; inspiration, because greatness stands as the embodiment of value, as an abiding influence which calls upon subsequent human effort. Accomplishment indicates what can be done, but one never repeats the past. To attempt to repeat is to play false even to that historical moment which was not itself the repetition of its predecessor. The past is not the present, nor can it be made to function for the urgencies and problems …

The Vanguard (Vol. 25, No. 3), Apr 1978, Lutheran Human Relations Association Of America

The Vanguard

The board of directors of the Lutheran Human Relations Association of America (LHRAA), at its March 10-11 meeting, voted unanimously to endorse the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and to "express dismay over those 15 states that have failed to ratify the amendment."

The LHRAA staff also indicated they would explore ways to conduct LHRAA meetings in states that have ratified ERA.

The Vanguard

For the second year, the Wheat Ridge Foundation has granted $23,700 to the Lutheran Human Relations Association of America (LHRAA) to conduct two workshops for congregations in racially changing neighborhoods.

Last year's workshops involved seven midwest and seven west coast congregations. In the two week-long events - one in Chicago and one in Los Angeles - lay leaders and pastors developed skills to help their congregations minister more effectively in their changing communities (November 1977 and December 1977 VANGUARD).
