Scholars search their books and minds to discover the roots of terrorism, but have as yet failed even to agree on a definition of the word. Terrorist actions are too varied in scope and common denominators are elusive. Responsibility may lie with nations, ethnic, military or religious groups, or individuals, and the variety of such activities is limited only by the outer parameters of the human capacity for cruelty. Victims range from the soldiers at war, soldiers trying to keep the peace, businessmen, tourists, children and mere passers-by. Research reveals only that there is always a burning cause: a real …

Sent Forth By God's Blessing: Liturgy And Witness, Robert W. Hovda
Institute of Liturgical Studies Occasional Papers
(Excerpt)
"Liturgy and witness." Not liturgy as a means to witness or even, closer, the means to witness. For liturgy is an end, and the worship of the living God needs no other justification for creatures loved, redeemed, enlightened. But "liturgy and witness." Liturgy as witness and liturgy as formation, orientation, inspiration for the living of witness lives, both corporately as church and individually as members.

Assessment Of Influence That The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Has On Exercise Habit Of Members Living In Utah County, Gary L. Preston
Theses and Dissertations
This study identified and analyzed the influence the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had on the decision of 309 respondents to exercise. The data obtained from the questionaires were analyzed using chi-square to compare males and females. Within the limitations of this study, the following conclusions were justified: women were more influenced by the LDS Church to exercise than men; LDS males and females exercised more than average American adults; walking, jogging, and aerobic dance were the most popular choices of LDS exercisers; and, there is a need to improve the awareness of LDS members concerning the Physical …

Cognitive Levels Of Thinking For Religious Training Materials And Infusion Across The Curriculum, Patrick Low
Cognitive Levels Of Thinking For Religious Training Materials And Infusion Across The Curriculum, Patrick Low
Masters Theses
The major accomplishment of this project was the creation of cognitive levels of questions spanning Bloom's (1964) taxonomy of learning, fostering religious training in nontraditional class settings at Kalamazoo Christian High School, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Classes involved were business mathematics, health, and physical education.
Descriptors, i.e., key terms, were developed from teachers' goals and objectives. Descriptors were then checked in a concordance to help develop Scripture reference for question development. Weekly or biweekly, participating teachers and the curriculum committee were supplied draft sections of the project; they gave feedback relative to usefulness and acceptability.
The results have been termed "very useful" …

The Jesus Movement Of The 1960s And 1970s As A "Great Awakening", Kurt Bodling
The Jesus Movement Of The 1960s And 1970s As A "Great Awakening", Kurt Bodling
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
This thesis attempts to answer the question: Was the Jesus Movement of the 1960s and 1970s another "Great Awakening? It will begin by discussing the so-called "First Great Awakening" that occurred in colonial America under the leadership of Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield. Then there is a chapter on the history of the series of events known as the "Jesus Movement," followed by a chapter devoted to an inspection of its theology. Finally, the major emphases are drawn together in a conclusion.
