Sermons And Discourses Delivered By Rev. H. B. Altmeyer Principally On The Gospels, Feasts Of The Church And The Lives Of The Saints During The Last Ten Years, Henry B. Altmeyer Jan 1915

Sermons And Discourses Delivered By Rev. H. B. Altmeyer Principally On The Gospels, Feasts Of The Church And The Lives Of The Saints During The Last Ten Years, Henry B. Altmeyer

Altmeyer, Henry B., 1870-1930

Altmeyer published his first collection, Sermons Delivered Before Mixed Congregations, in 1911. In the Preface to this volume, Henry A. Brann, Rector of St. Agnes' Church in New York, notes that this one had been printed at the request of many of his fellow clergy. Brann goes on to describe the sermons as "correct...clear, terse, and plain," effectively combining "the study of the dogmatic with the ethical teaching of the church."

Between the two columns of text about the basilica's sinking is an engraving of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is followed by a prayer to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
