Tertullian's Influence As A Man And A Writer On The Church, Mary Dominica Mullen
Tertullian's Influence As A Man And A Writer On The Church, Mary Dominica Mullen
Bachelors’ Theses
Tertullian was born about the middle of the second century A. D., at Carthage, a great city with a great history* ’’Tyre in Africa,” is one of his favorite phrases for Carthage and her ’’sister cities,” and he quotes Virgil’s description of Dido’s town ’’studiis asperrima belli.”* But his Carthage was not that of Dido and Hannibal. It was the refounded city of Julius Caesar, now itself two hundred years old - a place with a character of its own, familiar to the reader of St. Augustine’s Confessions - a character confirmed by the references of Tertullian to its amusements …
The Life Of Santa Teresa De Jesus, Anna Margaret Meara
The Life Of Santa Teresa De Jesus, Anna Margaret Meara
Bachelors’ Theses
Santa Teresa, de Jesus was born at Avila on the 28th of March 1515. Her father, Don Alonso Sanchez de Cepeda had been married twice, and Santa Teresa was one of the children of the second marriage, Don Alonso was pious, stern and austere; if not exactly rich, at least so far well-to-do that he was able to provide for his three daughters and twelve sons. Santa Teresa, who has left a beautiful character sketch of him, delighted in speaking of him, and always did so in the terms of the highest veneration. He was fond of good books, of …

Cardinal Newman And Christina Rossetti: Contrasted From A Religious And Literary Point Of View, M. Rosenda Sullivan
Bachelors’ Theses
Literature is a magic wand possessed of the power to transport the dwellers of earth away from this sphere of sordid reality into a fairy palace of ecstatic joy. It is the sesame to a world of pleasure indiscoverable in the actual world. Truly it is, to use the words of a poet, "The touch of a vanished hand And the bound of a voice that is still," for through it as a medium the spirits of men and of races long since turned to dust reinhabit their discarded bodies to appear in life-appareled form and re-act time's changeful drama …

Lessons To Be Learnt From The History And Development Of The Halle-Leipzig Mission In India, H Earl Miller
Lessons To Be Learnt From The History And Development Of The Halle-Leipzig Mission In India, H Earl Miller
Bachelor of Divinity
We may, without doing violence to truth, speak of the unbroken continuity of the Halle-Leipzig mission from the days of Ziegenbalg down to the present time, a period of 222 years. In more than one respect, this mission has been the outstanding force in the history of missionary endeavor in India, and we may well expect to profit from an examination of its history and development.

Behaviorism: An Exposition And Critical Examination, Philip S. Clapp
Behaviorism: An Exposition And Critical Examination, Philip S. Clapp
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Behaviorism may be most easily defined after contrasting it with other forms of psychology. Until the advent of behaviorism in 1912, all psychology was built upon a subject matter called consciousness or mind, as definitions of psychology show: James: "Psychology is the description and explanation of states of consciousness as such." Angell: " Psychology is commonly defined as the science of consciousness... Consciousness we can only define in terms of itself." Thorndike: "Human psychology deals with the thoughts and feelings of human beings and seeks to explain the facts of intellect, character, and personal life." Seashore: "Psychology is the science …

The 1927 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Double Shoals Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Zeno Wall. The Committee on Women's Work reports that the Women's Missionary Union has shown growth and progress, and is making plans for their fortieth anniversary celebration. The Boiling Springs High School Annual Report indicated that there was a deficit in operating expenses for the first time, and a faculty reorganization. A tentative agreement was made to begin the transition to a junior college.
