Homiletics: Outlines On Isaiah 53, Ottomar Krueger
Homiletics: Outlines On Isaiah 53, Ottomar Krueger
Concordia Theological Monthly
The preceding verses serve as introduction to this chapter and topic. The chapter really begins at Is. 52:13. The general topic is "God's Servant." Who is this Servant? The Talmud says it is the Messiah. Others maintain it was the Jewish nation or the believers in Israel. Others maintain it was Isaiah.

As the old year departs and 1949 enters, we lift up our eyes to the hills whence cometh our help. It seems doubtful that the world situation will improve materially during the twelve months that lie ahead; that the war clouds which still cast their gloom over the globe will be dispersed; that true peace will again unite the nations in amity and concord; that the state of virtual slavery, the horrible privations and destitution which crush vast multitudes in Europe and Asia will be ended; and that we can again eat our meals without thinking with a start of …

The Economic And Social History Of Bingham Canyon, Utah, Considered With Special Reference To Mormon-Gentile Synthesis, George M. Addy
The Economic And Social History Of Bingham Canyon, Utah, Considered With Special Reference To Mormon-Gentile Synthesis, George M. Addy
Theses and Dissertations
This paper will be confined to the northern portion of the range though it might be noted that the topographical descriptions of the Bingham district apply in a general way to the southern district also. The northern Oquirrhs contain a number of sizeable canyons running either east or west from a central ridge seven thousand to eight thousand feet in altitude. Bingham Canyon, one of the largest of these, is located on the eastern slope of the range and drains into Salt Lake Valley.
A Survey Of Fiction Written By Mormon Authors And Appearing In Mormon Periodicals Between 1900 And 1945, Ross Stolworthy Esplin
A Survey Of Fiction Written By Mormon Authors And Appearing In Mormon Periodicals Between 1900 And 1945, Ross Stolworthy Esplin
Theses and Dissertations
Mormon periodical fiction has had a slow and painstaking development. Not much fiction of worth was produced prior to 1900, but by 1900 the antecedents of a future "mature" fiction were established.
The fiction of the years following those initial developments of fiction is largely, as yet, unexplored and unevaluated. It is my purpose in this study to map out the broad areas of this fiction and attempt to measure its literary value.

Comparative Study Of Judaism And Shinto, Alice Elsa Smith
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The forces that have arisen within and without mankind have been responsible for all that has occurred upon the earth in the name of religion, and the greatest force without is God. In the words of James Martineau, "This world is part of the great cosmos, all of whose forces . . . find their unity in God, and whose laws are but the modes and order of His thoughts. In this field, his is not simple First Cause, but Sole Cause; all forces being one, and no force other than his."1 The greatest force within is man's rationalization …

The Philosophy Of Paul, Julian B. Linkous
Graduate Thesis Collection
The title of this thesis, "The Philosophy of Paul," makes the assumption that Paul had a philosophy. Because this assumption is not universally acoepted oy students of the life of Paul, as noted above, we shall endeavor to show that Paul had a philosophy. In other words, we shall show that our assumption is valid. Our second purpose shall be to identify Paul's philosophy.
A Study Of Latin Words In The Greek New Testament, Esther Laverne Benjamin
A Study Of Latin Words In The Greek New Testament, Esther Laverne Benjamin
Graduate Thesis Collection
The primary purpose of this work is to call attention to the existence of Latin words in the Greek New Testament and to present an objective study of them. As a corollary to this study, the impact of Graeco-Roman culture upon Judea in terms of these words, their synonyms, and related words is pointed out. Glimpses of the background of the New Testament figures afforded through this study lend perspective to the New Testament pages.

A Critical Study Of The Greek Words Translated Veils And An Application To The Book Of Hebrews, John Douglas Livingston
A Critical Study Of The Greek Words Translated Veils And An Application To The Book Of Hebrews, John Douglas Livingston
Master's Theses
Statement of the problem
It is the purpose of this study to discover, if possible, the precise meaning assigned in Hebrews 6:19; 10:20 to "the veil" mentioned in each of these verses. This study is made in the belief that this epistle comes to us from the Apostle Paul and that, accordingly, though it may contain "some things hard to be understood," it was written "according to the wisdom given unto him" by God. On this account the investigation has been carried out with confidence in the ultimate possibility of determining (1) whether "the veil" of Hebrews 6:19 refers to …

The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions (BCIM) was created in 1874 as the Office of the Commissioner for Catholic Indian Missions to protect, promote, and administer the Native American mission interests of the Catholic Church in the United States. Records in this group are organized by record group and then state or territory and year. Collection organization varies very little throughout the collection, however, prior to 1921, general correspondence was organized by location. Starting with Director Hughes, general correspondence was placed as its own subgroup within the collection and is organized alphabetically. Please go to Ask An Archivist if you …
