Model For A Proposed Statue Of Joseph Smith Suitable For Placement Near The Entrance Of The Joseph Smith Building, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, Evelyn Horrocks Meiners

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study is to design a model for a proposed statue of Joseph Smith which would be appropriate for placement near the main entrance of the Joseph Smith Building, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. This statue should depict the great historical and spiritual significance of Joseph Smith, be harmonious with the architecture and landscaping, and conform to the principles of good design.

A History Of Wasatch County, 1859-1899, Leslie Shupe Raty Jan 1954

A History Of Wasatch County, 1859-1899, Leslie Shupe Raty

Theses and Dissertations

This is an attempt to tell the story of the foundation and pioneer development of Wasatch County. The writer has tried to trace those factors in the pioneering venture which have made important contributions to present-day life in the county. This is also a story of the pioneers who settled here, a story of how they individually and collectively met the challenge of the frontier. But in addition to this, the effort has been made to picture one part of a phase in general Utah history, a phase which followed the original settlement, a phase in which an effort was …

Freighting Between The Missouri River And Utah - 1847-1869, George Lofstrom Strebel

Theses and Dissertations

The problem for this thesis was undertaken because of an intense interest which the writer has in general Western History and more particularly in the History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As the thousands of emigrants moved west to make their homes, they brought with them only enough supplies to support themselves for a relatively short time. When those supplies were gone they needed replacements in order not to bring hardships to the settlers. Where were these precious supplies to come from? Some few principally agricultural products could be produced, but by far the largest portion …

The History Of The Drama In Corinne And Brigham City, Utah, 1855-1905, Rue Corbett Johnson Jan 1954

The History Of The Drama In Corinne And Brigham City, Utah, 1855-1905, Rue Corbett Johnson

Theses and Dissertations

It is hoped that through the inclusion of the history of the drama in Corinne, Utah, some interesting contrasts can be shown. Such contrasts are heightened when it Is realized that geographically the two towns are very close and that unlike Brigham City, and other Utah towns, Corinne was non-Mormon. During its zenith it undoubtedly reflected the typical frontier town characteristics more than did the Mormon town nearby. This fact provides opportunity for comparison of two societies as reflected in their dramatic activities. This comparison should assist in evaluating the history and contributions of Mormon dramatic activity by helping to …

A Study Of Ministers' Salaries In The California-Nevada Conference Of The Methodist Church, 1941-1952, Robert Bryce Sanford Jan 1954

A Study Of Ministers' Salaries In The California-Nevada Conference Of The Methodist Church, 1941-1952, Robert Bryce Sanford

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The problem to which this study is directed is the need for a better understanding of the current status of the salaries of ministers and their significance in the life of the individual minister, the local churches they serve, and the conference of which they are a part. The study was limited to the California-Nevada Conference of the Methodist Church and its antecedent, the California Conference, during the period 1941 to 1952. The author is a minister in this conference.

North Dakota, Fort Totten Reservation, School Of The Little Flower, 1954, John B. Tennelly, Bureau Of Catholic Indian Missions

Dakota, North

The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions (BCIM) was created in 1874 as the Office of the Commissioner for Catholic Indian Missions to protect, promote, and administer the Native American mission interests of the Catholic Church in the United States. Records in this group are organized by record group and then state or territory and year. Collection organization varies very little throughout the collection, however, prior to 1921, general correspondence was organized by location. Starting with Director Hughes, general correspondence was placed as its own subgroup within the collection and is organized alphabetically. Please go to Ask An Archivist if you …

The History Of The Epiphany Season And The Propers Of The Feast Of Epiphany, John H. Tietjen Dec 1953

The History Of The Epiphany Season And The Propers Of The Feast Of Epiphany, John H. Tietjen

Concordia Theological Monthly

Like all the liturgy of the Church, the Epiphany season of the church year is the product of history and of centuries of growth and development. Just as it is impossible fully to understand the theology of an era without an understanding of the theology of the preceding eras, so it is impossible fully to understand the meaning of the Epiphany season in the present without an understanding of the past history of that season.

The Faculty At Bethel On The "Demythologizing" Championed By Professor Dr. Bultmann, A. Adam Nov 1953

The Faculty At Bethel On The "Demythologizing" Championed By Professor Dr. Bultmann, A. Adam

Concordia Theological Monthly

The intention is not to pass judgment on the theology of R. Bultmann in general. To do that, a far more detailed discussion would be required, for which we do not have the space here. In concerning ourselves specifically with demythologizing as understood by Bultmann, we had to curtail to some extent the study of the problem and thus simplify some of the implications.

Principles Of Counseling, Henry L. Lieske Oct 1953

Principles Of Counseling, Henry L. Lieske

Concordia Theological Monthly

Pastoral counseling is currently receiving much greater emphasis in the seminary curriculum than was the case a decade or two ago. This does not mean that effective pastoral counseling has been carried on only recently. Throughout the ages the "cure," or care, of souls has been a matter of vital concern to the Church and its pastors.
