Theology And Church Music As Bearers And Interpreters Of The Verbum Dei, Walter B. Buszin

Concordia Theological Monthly

In the very first issue of Musik und Kirche, published in January/February 1930, Christhard Mahrenholz stated in his foreword that no age or generation can afford simply to take for granted that a relationship exists between the church and her music. Mahrenholz emphasized at the time that the very nature of the problems involved demands that each generation study this question anew.

Water Into Wine: A Sign For The Modem Ministry, Arthur M. Vincent Jan 1961

Water Into Wine: A Sign For The Modem Ministry, Arthur M. Vincent

Concordia Theological Monthly

A king begins His public ministry. He performs His first miracle; He gives His first "sign" (σημεῖον) 1 John says. He changes water into wine. This sign stands as a finger post of God. It points us then and now to Christ. Among other lessons, it also is a sign for our modern ministry. For encouragement think of this as a sign of the King's power, a sign of the King's love, a sign of the Kingdom, and a sign for the ministry of the Word.

A Study Of Problems Relative To The Fulfillment Of Selected Prophecies In The Book Of Mormon: With Particular Reference To The Prophetic View From 1830 Onward, Ross William Warner

Theses and Dissertations

Prophecy appears to play an important role in the Book of Mormon. The prophets evidently felt it necessary to include a considerable amount of prophetic material in this modern book of scripture.
Three general divisions of book of mormon prophecy can be made: (1) prophecies which relate to the period of time prior to the year 421 A.D., the approximate date of the final writing on the plates of Mormon, (2) prophecies which relate to the period 421 to 1830, the publication date of the Book of Mormon, and (3) prophecies which relate to the period 1830 onward.
The first …

The writer is a member of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A History Of Preston, Idaho, Clarence G. Judy Jan 1961

A History Of Preston, Idaho, Clarence G. Judy

Theses and Dissertations

Preston, Idaho, a small agricultural community in northern Cache Valley, in early times was a hunting ground for Indians who camped nearby. The first white men to visit the area were trappers, immigrants and explorers. Mormon settlers had pushed to its borders by 1860.

Unlike most communities of Cache Valley, the greater Preston area, known then as Worm Creek, was settled by individual enterprise. In 1868 Dennis W. Winn became the first settler in that part of Worm Creek known as the "Flat" or "Sandridge" which later became Preston. Other settlers located along Worm Creek to the east.

Together with related terms, it constitutes one of the chief motifs in the epistle. On the basis of this epistle, we shall examine I. The Nature of Faith, and II. The Triumph of Faith.
