Contents of an envelope presumably collected by John D. Carroll from Paterson, New Jersey, who served as president of the International Catholic Deaf Association (ICDA). These materials were included in a scrapbook compiled by Carroll and were likely intended to be added to document activities and items of interest to the Deaf and Deaf Catholic communities, particularly in Paterson, Philadelphia and New York. With the passage of years a succession of families called Cove Fort their home. Members of these households served as agents for the facility and supervised its operation. A view of the personalities and occurrences associated with the various occupants is a necessary part of understanding that which has transpired at the site.

The purpose of this study was two fold: (1) to determine if there was a significant difference in attitude toward the church and certain of its teachings and practices between those who were pressured into taking seminary and those who enrolled because they wanted to and (2) to compare the change in attitude of the students who were pressured into seminary with the change in attitude of the students who were not pressured into seminary after completing their first year.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been organized for over one hundred and thirty-six years. The history of nearly a century of that time--1866 to the present--has not been adequately dealt with in any single book currently available for use on the high school level as an L. D. S. seminary text. The objective of this field project was to produce textual materials covering a fifty-three year portion of this period--the portion 1898-1951.

The "History of the Danish Mission, 1850-1964," gives a detailed account of the Mormon "beginnings" in Denmark and attempts to trace the development of a system of proselyting and its effect upon the lives of both missionaries and converts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. No attempt has been made in this study to record chronological detail to any extensive degree. Rather, emphasis has been placed on "beginnings" and major historical developments.
