A Study Of The Changes In The Contents Of The Book Of Moses From The Earliest Available Sources To The Current Edition, James Roy Harris

Theses and Dissertations

Students and scholars of the L. D. S. Scriptures have long been aware of differences existing in the various publications of the material in our Book of Moses. To our knowledge no one has ever carefully isolated or analyzed these changes nor has any explanation been given either to justify or condemn them.

Our first objective has been to make a linear comparison of all significant publications of the contents of the Book of Moses. By "significant" we refer to those publications in which there are additions or omissions of words. All changes are then considered in the light of …

The Social Responsibility Of The Local Congregation To Its Community, Alvin H. Franzmeier Jun 1957

The Social Responsibility Of The Local Congregation To Its Community, Alvin H. Franzmeier

Bachelor of Divinity

This study attempts to establish if a Christian congregation, the Church of Christ in this place, has any responsibility towards the community in which it finds itself as that community tries to solve its various social problems. In doing this the study aims primarily at definitions of the Church and the community and the tasks, goals and motivation of both. On the basis of these definitions it strives to set forth certain principles that a local Church and its leaders might use as they seriously consider the various social problems in their community.

Not Discerning The Body In 1 Corinthians 11:29 In The Light Of Pauline Eucharistic Theology Of 1 Corinthians, Ralph C. Kruger Jun 1957

Not Discerning The Body In 1 Corinthians 11:29 In The Light Of Pauline Eucharistic Theology Of 1 Corinthians, Ralph C. Kruger

Bachelor of Divinity

Theological trends determine the specific emphases of the confessional doctrines of the Church. As throughout the history of the Church when new trends and theological postulates appear, the student of theology is called upon to examine carefully their content on the basis of Scripture in order to reject or absorb these propositions into his own theology. Twentieth century theology, captivated by the ecumenical movement, is engaged in renewed study of the particu1ar doctrines of the Church and Sacraments. The purpose of this thesis is to present for the reader's evaluation a brief study of a phrase from 1 Cor. 11:29 …

The Significance Of The P46 In The Second Epistle Of St Paul To The Corinthians According To The Nestle Text, Edward Frederick Peters Jun 1957

The Significance Of The P46 In The Second Epistle Of St Paul To The Corinthians According To The Nestle Text, Edward Frederick Peters

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this paper is to try to determine, to a certain extent, the significance of one of these Chester Beatty Papyri, namely P46, in St. Paul's Second Epistle to the Corinthians. It tries to answer some of the questions that are being asked and which must be answered before critics are able to give P46 a final slot in the complicated maze of the history of the New Testament text.

Methods Of Expressing Purpose In Romans, First Corinthians, Second Corinthians, Galatians, And Hebrews, Charles D. Froehlich

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this paper is to investigate and compare the methods of expressing purpose in four letters written by the Apostle Paul and in the Epistle to the Hebrews. The four epistles of St. Paul which have been studied are the one to the Romans, both letters to the Corinthians, and the one to the Galatians. It is hoped that some light might be shed on the probability or improbability of the Pauline authorship of the Epistle to the Hebrews.

An Historical Survey Of Old Testament Theology Since 1922, Delbert R. Hillers

By sketching the background and context of the pericope and giving a careful exegeses of the text, its terms and grammar, the writer hopes to demonstrate the timeless importance of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper to the Christian Church. From this exegetical treatment, then, we hope to infer the doctrina1 and practical implications of Paul's teachings..

The Christology Of St. Mark, Roy Blumhorst Jun 1957

The Christology Of St. Mark, Roy Blumhorst

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this paper will be to attempt an analysis of the Christology presented in the Gospel according to St. Mark. This Gospel has been widely used for Christological studies for good reasons. The fact that this Gospel is generally considered to be the earliest of the four would make its testimony of prime importance in investigating the actual historical evidence about. Jesus of Nazareth. The very nature of the Gospel according to St. Mark is another factor in using it as a basic record. Luke may be considered to excel in the beauty of narrative, John in his …
