The Soteriolgical Aspect Of The Doctrine Of The Holy Trinity According To The Lutheran Confessions, Lewis W. Spitz
The Soteriolgical Aspect Of The Doctrine Of The Holy Trinity According To The Lutheran Confessions, Lewis W. Spitz
Concordia Theological Monthly
The Lutheran Confessions are basically doxological in their treatment of the Holy Trinity, as they sound forth a hymn of praise to the grace and mercy of the Triune God. The theme of their exultant song is Soli deo gloria! But the God to whom alone shall be all glory is the Triune God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost - three distinct Persons in one divine Essence. Measuring the space which the Confessions devote to the various doctrines which they profess, one might think otherwise.

Tertullian--His Life And Theology, Elmer Hethke
Tertullian--His Life And Theology, Elmer Hethke
Bachelor of Divinity
With these considerations in minds we are ready to embark upon our study of his life and theology. First, this paper will consider his life and work as it affected the people of his day, his dealings with the heresies of his day, and his own heretical views. Then this paper will consider his theology, which will be done by a survey of the various loci in systematic theology.

The Word In The Word, Walter R. Roehrs
The Word In The Word, Walter R. Roehrs
Concordia Theological Monthly
By formulation our topic also asks us to think of these terms as a given relationship to each other: the Word in the Word. Thus the problem is stated. Two concepts, identical to the that they can be represented by the same semantic symbol, and be differentiated from each other by their relationship to each other. In a somewhat less cryptic form our topic could also be What is the relationship between the Word made flesh and the written Word of Scripture.

The Consideration Of A Possible Heretical Trend Developing In The Religious Philosophy Of The Latter-Day Saint People Of A Given Geographical Area, A. Burt Horsley
The Consideration Of A Possible Heretical Trend Developing In The Religious Philosophy Of The Latter-Day Saint People Of A Given Geographical Area, A. Burt Horsley
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this investigation and research project has been to discover the answers to certain problems connected with the religious philosophy of the Latter-day Saint people of a given geographical area, through appropriate research methods and procedures. The problems to be answered are as follows:
(1) What is the philosophy of religion of these people as it pertains to predestination and fatalism?
(2) Does the philosophy of these people tend to be fatalistic, especially as it is reflected in their concept of the role of fate or God or providence in certain life and death situations?
(3) What is …

Christ, The Hope Of Glory, Martin H. Franzmann

'' And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever." 2 Tim. 4:18.
These words of St. Paul, even though individual in form and a personal confession of the Apostle, contain practically all the characteristics of the eschatological hope of the Church of Jesus Christ. For that hope is (1) a Christ-centered hope; it is (2) a hope that looks for a divine act of deliverance; it is (3) a hope for a total consummation; it is (4) a "practical" hope; and (5) it …

The Grace Of God Gives Us Christ For Justification, Gerhard Schulze-Kadelbach
The Grace Of God Gives Us Christ For Justification, Gerhard Schulze-Kadelbach
Concordia Theological Monthly
Our theme is a confessional statement. The statement as a whole as well as each of its terms makes sense only as a confession. We must consider this for a moment at the very outset. In doing so, our thoughts tend in two directions. The realization that we are dealing with a confessional statement implies above all that the assertion of our theme is possible only within the Church. The little word "us" points unmistakably to this fact: "The grace of God gives us Christ for justification."

The Historical Method In Biblical Interpretation, Raymond P. Surburg
The Historical Method In Biblical Interpretation, Raymond P. Surburg
Concordia Theological Monthly
The failure of exegetes to agree on hermeneutical principles is said to be one of the major causes for the divisions in Christendom, and, as Avey pointed out more than 25 years ago, American denominationalism will not disappear unless all bodies agree on basic principles of Biblical interpretation. Biblical scholars of the liberal tradition claim that the greatest obstacle to any agreement among exegetes lies in the continued use of the so-called dogmatic method inherited from the Reformers. Its advocates are charged that on the assumption that the Bible is divinely inspired and inerrant they employ the prooftext method in …

Evidences Of Culture Contacts Between Polynesia And The Americas In Precolumbian Times, John L. Sorenson Sr.
Evidences Of Culture Contacts Between Polynesia And The Americas In Precolumbian Times, John L. Sorenson Sr.
Theses and Dissertations
Of the great unsettled problems of archaeology and anthropology perhaps the most hotly debated has been the relative importance of migration, diffusion, and independent invention in the origin of culture elements. The question has obvious importance, both for a proper understanding of man and culture, that ambitiously comprehensive goal of modern anthropology, and for historical reconstruction, the latter a necessary preliminary of the former.
The concern of this thesis is with culture movement in the eastern Pacific Ocean area. The Pacific area as a whole has long been the geographical center of the diffusion problem (if we may so term …

A Study Of The Wesleyan Doctrine Of Entire Sanctification In The Light Of The Apostle Paul's Use Of The Term "Flesh" (Sarx), Bern Madison Warren
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The problem under consideration was an investigation of the Wesleyan doctrine of entire sanctification in the light of the Apostle Paul's use of the term "flesh" (sarx). No term, in connection with this doctrine, needs more careful study and analysis than does the word "flesh" as Paul used it in his New Testament epistles. Paul so closely identified this term with sin and salvation from sin that no one can adequately apprehend hamartiology (the doctrine of sin) and soteriology (the doctrine of salvation from sin) and ignore the Apostle's use of the word "flesh". Therefore, the problem centered around the …
