The unprecedented growth of the aging population in Tennessee is a significant demographic trend that highlights the necessity for healthcare policy that tackles end-of-life issues. This study examined the perceived quality of end-of-life healthcare in Tennessee, areas that are in need of improvement, policies that have the potential to influence improvements, and the role of politics in end-of-life healthcare policy. It also assessed the support for end-of-life healthcare policy that would advance quality of care and expand end-of-life choices for Tennesseans, while evaluating the policy-making process that legislators employ.

We conducted a qualitative exploration and implementation evaluation of a Massachusetts policy initiative, the Community Hospital Acceleration, Revitalization, and Transformation (CHART) investment program, to examine how CHART innovations aimed at reducing unnecessary emergency department (ED) visits also addressed patients’ social disconnection problems according to a social connection framework (structural, functional, quality or multilevel). We performed interviews with 236 stakeholders (hospital managers, CHART providers, staff, and community partners) one-year post CHART implementation. Interviews were analyzed using a directed content analysis approach. Data were then mapped to levels of the social connection framework. Alternative food practices, including farmers markets and CSAs, are often inaccessible to lowincome families. Subsidized CSAs and fruit and vegetable prescription programs have the potential to decrease food insecurity, increase fresh fruit and vegetable consumption, and generate better health outcomes. However, several challenges can limit logistics of distribution and an inability to cook from scratch due to a lack of kitchen infrastructure, time, or skills. As the opioid crisis has deepened over the past twenty years, its effect on individuals and families, including older adults, has grown. To find out how the opioid crisis might be impacting elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation in Maine, we conducted a mixed methods analysis of 2015-2018 Maine Adult Protective Services (APS) investigations to determine: 1) Did opioid-related investigations increase over time? 2) Do investigations involving opioid misuse or abuse differ from investigations that don’t involve opioids? 3) What themes or features of cases involving opioid misuse or abuse by clients and/or perpetrators emerge from the data?

The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

Participants in the breakout sessions for the CONVERGE COVID-19 Working Group’s Workshop 5 (Workforce) identified several issues, including unique staffing challenges for this compound event, needed training revisions to address shelter protocols specific to COVID-19, additional staffing needs based on the unusual use of congregate and non-congregate shelters to address COVID-19 risks, and the increased need for ancillary services for staff and volunteers during and after an event.

HEALTH is a program designed to meet the needs of LGBT+ older adults by connecting them with volunteers of LGBT+ nonprofit organizations. Through HEALTH, LGBT+ youth and older adults can form connections that can extend beyond the structure of the program. By connecting younger volunteers with older adults, HEALTH can help grow the social capital of the LGBT+ community. Fostering friendly relationships between people of all ages can influence the progress of LGBT+ rights moving forward by combining the experience of the elders with the technological and social capabilities of the youth.

This study examines the contribution and impacts of the social service works done by nuns in the UK in the 1950s and 1960s, and in Perú within the last five years. Specifically, it investigates the relationship between nuns as providers of social services and other providers such as the government. Drawing on existing literature on theories of secularization, and a close examination of the historical evolution of the British and Peruvian welfare state apparatuses, this study contextualizes the social service work of nuns in contemporaneous social, economic, and political circumstances. Rest homes, however, are not well-understood and the rest home industry itself suffers greatly, not only from a lack of understanding of the services they provide, but also from the strain on their financial resources due to both competition from other healthcare options and insufficient reimbursement rates for residents’ care.

I am devoted to health policy research, especially tackling the opioid crisis, and evaluating marijuana laws and newly emerging issues associated with legal recreational drugs. Opioid overdose in the United States continues to jeopardize public health. Meanwhile, the majority of states have legalized medical marijuana and one third of them further liberalized recreational marijuana. Marijuana liberalization, although originally independent of the growing opioid crisis, may be a harm reduction approach to the crisis because marijuana may be a substitute for opioids in pain management at a relatively lower risk. การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาระดับคุณภาพชีวิตการในทำงานของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดระนอง 2) ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลกับคุณภาพชีวิตการทำงานของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดระนอง 3) ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยลักษณะงานกับคุณภาพชีวิตการทำงานของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดระนอง กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ได้แก่บุคลากรในสังกัดองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดระนอง จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 206 คน สุ่มตัวอย่างอย่างง่าย ตามสัดส่วนของจำนวนประชากร โดย มีรายละเอียดการคำนวณขนาดตัวอย่าง โดยใช้วิธีการของ ยามาเน่ (Yamane, 1973) วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วย ความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และทดสอบความสัมพันธ์ของตัวแปรด้วยสถิติ Independent Sample T-test และ One Way-ANOVA และ Pearson Correlation ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ระดับคุณภาพชีวิตการทำงานของบุคลากรทั้ง 8 ด้าน มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง เมื่อพิจารณารายด้านเรียงจากมากไปน้อยพบว่า ด้านสิทธิส่วนบุคคลและประชาธิปไตยในองค์การ มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับมาก ด้านโอกาสในการพัฒนาความสามารถของบุคคล มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับมาก ด้านสภาพแวดล้อมการทำงานที่ปลอดภัย มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับมาก ด้านความก้าวหน้าและความมั่นคง มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ด้านลักษณะงานที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อสังคม มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ด้านการบูรณาการทางสังคมหรือการทำงานร่วมกัน มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ด้านความสมดุลระหว่างงานกับชีวิตส่วนตัว มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง และด้านค่าตอบแทนที่เพียงพอและเป็นธรรม มีค่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง 2) ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลกับคุณภาพชีวิตการทำงานตัวแปรทุกตัวมีผลต่อคุณภาพชีวิตแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล โดยใช้ Pearson Correlation ตัวแปรทุกตัวมีค่า Sig. Background: Florida became the first state in the U.S. South to legalize the use of medical marijuana to treat a variety of health conditions including chronic pain, epilepsy, and spasticity symptoms from multiple sclerosis. While there are over 200,000 medical marijuana patients in Florida, there remain financial, psychological, and insurance coverage barriers which reduce access for many patients. Purpose: This scoping review, with a focus on state health policy, first describes some clinical studies examining the therapeutic benefits of medical marijuana. In my ISP, I explored language as it relates to the ways in which people living in Cato Manor make sense of HIV/AIDS in their community. With 7.1-7.2 million people living with HIV (PLWHIV) in South Africa, individuals across the country are either infected or affected by illness. KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), the province with the highest rate of HIV, is also the province that was surveyed with the disproportionately highest internal stigma rates for PLWHIV. High prevalence of HIV, particularly in KZN, calls for a constant contextualization of life in the presence of illness.

The amount of cancer cases in Africa, and Kenya specifically, are rising at an alarming rate. This study was conducted to determine the challenges that patients with cancer in Kenya face to access treatment, care and support. Thirty-nine cancer patients were interviewed and thirty cancer patients filled out a questionnaire about their experiences of having cancer in Kenya. In addition, twenty key informants were interviewed including doctors, caregivers, cancer NGO executives, a researcher, a psychologist, a National Health Insurance Fund official and a director from the Ministry of Health.
