Q. scores and a comparison of the scores of students in early adolescence with those in middle …

An Analysis Of Vocabulary Variables At The College Level, Betty Ann Allen
Master's Theses
The strength and growth of vocabulary is one or the decisive factors in successful college work. Educators find it helpful to evaluate not only the general vocabulary ability of the college student, but also the more specialized directions which the development of the student 's vocabulary may take.
The author's interest in this problem grew out of the results obtained with freshmen in the Westhampton College orientation program in September 1948. In working up the data from 119 freshmen 's scores on the Michigan Vocabulary Profile Test, results were such as to arouse interest in analysis of freshmen performance on …

The problem we faced was to try to develop some form of psychotherapy that would not consume a great deal of time. It was desirable that it should be applicable to a wide range in type of cases and that it should be simple enough so that it would require little training on the part of the therapist. Semantics suggests that a personality may be built up because of language. The use of words as a means of communication has created a civilization yet each person because of individual differences and experiences has his own interpretation of these words. As …

It is the purpose of this investigation to answer this question. In a previous research made by the writer, significant differences were found between the Modern School Achievement Test norms and average scores made by several thousand pupils of Western Kansas on a modified form of this test in which separate answer sheets were used.
