The Juvenile Court : It's Purpose With Special Treatment On The Juvenile And Domestic Relations Court Of Richmond, Virginia, Harold L. Ronick

Honors Theses

The objectives of the writer in writing this monograph are two - first, to acquaint himself with the Juvenile And Relations Court of his own city, and second, to compile the records of the court so that they may known to all interested people.

The work is divided into four sections - in the first the early fundamental history and principles of Juvenile Courts in which an attempt is made to show that the Juvenile Court can trace its origin back to the English Common law Courts.

In the second section the writer discusses the bills passed by the General …

Communistic Propaganda In America, George V. Huebach May 1933

Communistic Propaganda In America, George V. Huebach

Bachelors’ Theses

The purpose or this thesis is to give the reader, if in relatively brief form, a comprehensive idea of present-day Communistic propaganda of the printed page. To fulfill each a purpose to its perfection would obviously require an organization or at least national extension and indefatigable energy for the probable space or a short lifetime. or course, the reasons for this statement lie in the ever increasing amount or propaganda, end particularly in the subtlety of its distribution and circulation. According to the philosophy of Communism, each member is expected to further the cause of the party by individual propaganda …

The Career Of Edward Ward Carmack And The Cooper-Sharp Trial, Robert Franklin Crutcher Jan 1932

The Career Of Edward Ward Carmack And The Cooper-Sharp Trial, Robert Franklin Crutcher

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The subject of this thesis was suggested to the writer in October 1931, by the History Department of the Western Kentucky State Teachers College. The writer at that time was considering a number of other subjects, but seeing that material could be located easily, and that the field suggested by the subject had not been covered, this subject was chosen. When much of the material had been located and examined it was clearly seen that the material in the field could be grouped under two heads and given this title, “Career of Edward Ward Carmack and the Cooper-Sharp Trial”.

An Economic Program For The League Of Nations Designed To Prevent World-Wide Economic Depressions, William A. Platz May 1931

An Economic Program For The League Of Nations Designed To Prevent World-Wide Economic Depressions, William A. Platz

Bachelors’ Theses

This thesis represents an effort to discover a way for the nations of the world to cooperate in the prevention of economic depression. The author has studied the League of Nations with the purpose of finding out what it can do in the promotion of such cooperation and has discovered organic weaknesses which seem to him to bar effective action by the League as it is now organized. He has recommended in the final chapter the organization of two new conferences, one representing commerce and industry and the other representing finance, which he considers essential to a workable program of …

The Personification Of Abstract Virtues As Represented In Four Roman Goddesses : Concordia, Fides, Pietas, And Spes, Dorothea Quitzow Jan 1930

The Personification Of Abstract Virtues As Represented In Four Roman Goddesses : Concordia, Fides, Pietas, And Spes, Dorothea Quitzow

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Roman literature and history clearly show that the Romans in the days of the Emperors constantly deified many of the abstract terms which to us designate qualities of character, or ideals worthy of emulation in life. Among the more significant of these are such ideas as faith, honor, intellect, concord, fidelity, hope, chastity, and understanding.

It is the purpose of this thesis to discuss the development of some of these virtues as they were represented through the mythological deification with which the Romans invested them. The goddesses, Concordia, Fides, Pietas, and Spes are herein presented as illustrating this popular and …

Training For Citizenship, M. Alacoque Jul 1929

Training For Citizenship, M. Alacoque

Bachelors’ Theses

"If in America there is to be an enduring government of the people, by the people, for the people, then such a government must be perpetually fed and vitalized from the sources of an intelligent and loyal citizenry. Senator Kenyon of Iowa in a recent address before the Lawyers' Club of New York said, "The greatest foe of the United States at present is ignorance. We have to meet this condition by a campaign of education. We can't bludgeon people into good citizenship."
