Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

"The reactions of acid halides with metals are of interest because there seems to be a possibility of abstracting the halogens from two molecules of the halide, and thereby bringing about a coupling reaction; or the formation of an intermediate organo-metallic compound which would react with another molecule of the acid halide. The result of these reactions should be the formation of diacetyl and acetyl chloride and of dibenzoyl or benzil from benzoyl chloride. This paper represents the results of almost continuous research by the Nebraska State Geological Survey on Tertiary stratigraphy in Nebraska during a perIod of more than 10 years, with special attention to the present acceptable stratigraphic nomenclature. Cogent reasons are presented for the retention of such well-known names as White River, Arikaree, and Ogallala, all now redefined and elevated to group ranking. “Loup Fork” and “Loup River,” "Nebraska beds", and “Republican River" are considered obsolete. The application of fossil seed zones to problems of correlation is noted. The table of Tertiary Formations of Nebraska summarizes the Tertiary stratigraphy in Nebraska.

Only a casual perusal of the literature treating of enzymes impresses one with the importance of the subject. How could the process of digestion be carried on without the action of enzymes? The tanning industry is primarily concerned with so-called bates, which are enzymes. Other industrial ope.rations, such as brewing, the manufacture of glue, petroleum refining, the production of rubber and starch, are likewise largely dependent on enzymatic action. The purpose of this paper and those which will follow, is to present new types of flora found in several older leaf localities of the Pacific Northwest. A study will also be made of a number of new localities as yet not reported upon in the literature. The present paper refers to several new species found at the Bull Quarry, Ellensburg, and the Brickyard locality, Spokane, Washington. Both sites have been studied and reported upon in the past, as noted in attached bibliography.

Seven years ago we began our study of the Ginkgo Petrified Forest in Central Washington. This is in reality a series of forests occurring at various horizons in the Yakima ( and Wenas?) basalts throughout a vertical range of some 2,000 feet, and in a belt 150 miles long, and 50 miles wide, centering at Vantage on the Columbia River.

According to the amount of iodine absorbed fats are classified as drying, semi-drying, and non-drying oils.
