This thesis 1s concerned with the nature of the action of the lowering of the melting point of the various natural waxes by the addition of Halowax. The problem was suggested by the work of Louis Kroening in his thesis, "The Effect of Halowax 1012, 1013, and 1014 on the Melting Points of the Various Waxes", and also by that of Joseph M. Sevenich in his thesis, "An Investigation of Halowaxes in Trinary Wax Mixtures". The former showed conclusively that the presence of Halowax in a wax mixture invariably lowered the melting point of the natural wax. The latter showed …

The present research was undertaken to find methods suitable for the preparation of methyl, ethyl, and borneol glucoside. The problem was to prepare methyl, ethyl, and borneol glucoside, and to determine their con­stants in regard to the melting point and optical rotation. These results were then compared to the results obtained by Emil Fischer and J. Hamalaienen.

But there is a large number of classes of differential equations that are not included in these special forms and cannot be integrated by quadratures or other purely elementary methods.
