Agentic AI coding tools increasingly automate software development tasks. Developers can configure these tools through versioned repository-level artifacts such as Markdown and JSON files. We present a systematic analysis of configuration mechanisms for agentic AI coding tools, covering Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini, and Codex. We identify eight configuration mechanisms spanning from static context to executable and external integrations and, in an empirical study of 2,853 GitHub repositories, examine whether and how they are adopted, with a detailed analysis of Context Files, Skills, and Subagents. First, Context Files dominate the configuration landscape and are often the sole mechanism in …

Zero-Shot Transfer Of Foundation Time-Series Forecasters To Datacenter Operational Telemetry: Mapping A Domain Nobody Gets To Study, David Pace Jr
Zero-Shot Transfer Of Foundation Time-Series Forecasters To Datacenter Operational Telemetry: Mapping A Domain Nobody Gets To Study, David Pace Jr
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
This thesis asks how best to forecast real datacenter operational telemetry. Can pretrained foundation time-series forecasters do it zero-shot, or do trained classical baselines perform best? On a single-site benchmark of eight audited targets and four horizons (32 slices), the zero-shot foundation forecasters Moirai, Chronos, and TimesFM win 26 of 32 slices against multivariate classical baselines. However, the foundation wrappers operate per-channel on the target history, while classical baselines consume the full feature tensor. When the same classical models are retrained univariate, the foundation lead persists (27 of 32 slices) and a 3-seed rerun of a classical challenger reproduces it; …
On The True Interstellar Anisotropy Of Tev Cosmic Rays And Its Implications For The Local Interstellar Medium, Noufel D. Maalal
On The True Interstellar Anisotropy Of Tev Cosmic Rays And Its Implications For The Local Interstellar Medium, Noufel D. Maalal
Theses and Dissertations
Several ground-based cosmic ray (CR) air shower experiments have produced sky maps of intensity anisotropy in the energy range from 1 TeV to a few hundred TeVs with very high statistics and angular resolution. These measurements provide opportunities to study CR sources and propagation in the interstellar medium (ISM). Such studies present two major difficulties. Firstly, CRs are deflected by the heliospheric magnetic field on the last stretch of their journey to Earth. Secondly, measurements at different latitudes are difficult to compare, leading to uncertainties in latitudinal variations on the order of the observed anisotropy. Experiments usually assume latitudinal variations …
A Machine-Learning-Based Systematic Framework For Modeling Compression And Recompression Indices For Florida Soils, Michael Morales
A Machine-Learning-Based Systematic Framework For Modeling Compression And Recompression Indices For Florida Soils, Michael Morales
Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses
This thesis develops a machine-learning framework for estimating the compression index and the recompression index of Florida soils from routinely measured index properties, and reports two studies that build it. Consolidation settlement design requires both indices, and both are obtained from the incremental-loading oedometer test, which occupies a specimen for one to two weeks; the index tests that accompany it are complete within hours. Empirical correlations have filled that interval since the 1950s, but their coefficients are calibrated on specific soil populations and transfer poorly between regions. The first study analyzes 376 consolidation tests compiled for the Florida Department of …

Comparative Analysis Of Task Scheduling In Multi-Tier Fog-Cloud Computing: From Classical Approaches To Greedy Multi-Objective Optimization, Zafril Rizal M. Azmi, Najmul Haque, Saydul Akbar Murad
Faculty Publications
Fog computing extends cloud services to the network edge, enabling low-latency processing for time-sensitive applications. However, scheduling complexity significantly increases due to heterogeneous resources, dynamic workloads, and strict Quality-of-Service (QoS) constraints. Although numerous scheduling techniques have been proposed, existing studies often assess only a narrow subset of algorithms or rely on offline metaheuristics unsuitable for real-time environments. This paper presents a comprehensive comparative evaluation of twelve scheduling algorithms, including five classical, one heuristic, and six metaheuristic-inspired approaches, within a realistic 20-node multi-tier fog-cloud topology. Across 1,365 experiments spanning seven utilization levels, we analyze each algorithm’s deadline adherence, load distribution, and …
Cosmic Chirps: Studies In The Evolution And Detection Of Gravitational Waves From Compact Binary Systems, Calla Irene Bassett Bigg
Cosmic Chirps: Studies In The Evolution And Detection Of Gravitational Waves From Compact Binary Systems, Calla Irene Bassett Bigg
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation will go over three projects that have to do with gravitational wave mechanics and history. The first project is about investigating computationally cheaper approximation methods for modeling EMRI (extreme mass ratio inspiral) orbits using interpolation. Two codes are interpolated together for full coverage of the parameter space. This interpolation has yet to be tested for accuracy but the preliminary outlook is positive. This may well be a useful tool for studying EMRIs. The second project is investigating the origins of the term “chirp mass”, where chirp mass is a combination of the two masses in a binary that …
Beyond Semantic Matching: Integrating Graph Structures, Boolean Logic, And Interactive Aggregation In Modern Retrieval, Quan Mai
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Modern Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Information Retrieval (IR) systems have achieved remarkable success in semantic understanding; however, they continue to struggle with complex logical reasoning, structural interactions, and dynamic aggregation. This dissertation presents a comprehensive framework to enhance the structural, logical, and interactive capabilities of language models and retrieval systems across four progressive studies. First, we address the challenge of modeling dynamic conversational logic in online debates. We introduce a Sequence Graph Network (SGN) that captures the temporal and interactive exchange of ideas—such as counterarguments and reinforcements—by updating node features sequentially through a novel Sequence Graph Attention (SGA) layer. …
Soil Moisture Regime Effects On Greenhouse Gas Emissions In A Native Tallgrass Prairie In The Ozark Highlands, Thomas William Dockery
Soil Moisture Regime Effects On Greenhouse Gas Emissions In A Native Tallgrass Prairie In The Ozark Highlands, Thomas William Dockery
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The Ozark Highlands is an ecoregion in the mid-southern portion of the United States that is characterized by a mosaic of tallgrass prairies, oak (Quercus spp.) savannas, and oak-hickory (Carya spp.) forests, which represents a unique biophysical transition zone between the relatively dry grasslands of the west and the humid forests of the southeast. Quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, namely carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), from natural, undisturbed ecosystems is critical to understanding atmospheric warming and climate-change implications. The objective of this study was to simultaneously evaluate CO2, CH4, and N2O emissions in an aquic and …
Physics-Informed Machine Learning For Predictive Digital Twins In Greenhouses, Hoang Kim Tran
Physics-Informed Machine Learning For Predictive Digital Twins In Greenhouses, Hoang Kim Tran
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Greenhouses are widely used to create controlled environments for crop production, where indoor climate variables such as air temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration, radiation, and soil or substrate conditions directly affect plant growth, yield, energy consumption, and resource use. However, greenhouse climates are highly dynamic because they are influenced by complex interactions among outdoor weather, greenhouse structure, crop transpiration, heating systems, ventilation, screens, fans, irrigation, and other actuators. Building digital twins for greenhouses provides a powerful way to represent, monitor, and predict these climate dynamics. A predictive digital twin can simulate future indoor climate states based on current greenhouse conditions, …
Benchmarking Current Progress In 3d Content Generation, Vuong Ho
Benchmarking Current Progress In 3d Content Generation, Vuong Ho
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In recent years, 3D generation has rapidly advanced with the development of powerful generative AI models capable of producing high-quality 3D content from various modalities, including text, images, and multi-view inputs. These advancements have significantly accelerated progress in applications such as gaming, virtual reality, robotics, and digital content creation. Despite this progress, there is still a lack of standardized and fair benchmarking protocols for evaluating 3D generation methods. Existing approaches are often assessed under inconsistent experimental settings, using different datasets, evaluation metrics, and processing pipelines. Such inconsistencies make reliable and objective comparisons difficult, limiting our understanding of the strengths and …
Localizing And Repairing Backdoor-Sensitive Layers In Pre-Trained Language Models For Secure Fine-Tuning, Sunanda Das
Localizing And Repairing Backdoor-Sensitive Layers In Pre-Trained Language Models For Secure Fine-Tuning, Sunanda Das
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Task-agnostic backdoor attacks can contaminate pre-trained language models (PLMs) in a way that survives downstream adaptation, even under full fine-tuning, making it difficult for practitioners to trust third-party checkpoints. Existing defenses often rely on privileged assumptions (e.g., access to poisoned data or trigger/target knowledge), thereby limiting their applicability in realistic settings. We present DiSec (Disentanglement of potentially adversarial weights for Secure fine-tuning), a robust and label-efficient purification framework that uses only clean auxiliary text and does not rely on downstream supervision or attack signatures. DiSec elicits model-internal signals from this clean data to separate suspicious parameter components that are inconsistent …
Iterative Generation Of Feature-Based Cad Models Using An Llm With Domain Specific Constraints, Ammon I. Hepworth
Iterative Generation Of Feature-Based Cad Models Using An Llm With Domain Specific Constraints, Ammon I. Hepworth
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This paper presents a method to generate feature-based parametric mechanical CAD models from text input. The method uses domain-specific constraints (DSCs) to guide a large language model (LLM) in the generation of scripts to build models from the CAD API. It also presents a framework for an iterative text-based system that produces parametric CAD models. The method was implemented by developing DSCs for FreeCAD and Open AI GPT-5.2 and incorporated into a web-based software application which generates models that can be visualized with an interactive viewer after each iteration. Tests were run comparing various models with and without this method. …
Late-Night And Early-Morning Train Scheduling With Non-Traffic Hour Maintenance Window In Urban Rail Transit Systems, Yaochen Ma, Hai Yang, Hai Wang
Late-Night And Early-Morning Train Scheduling With Non-Traffic Hour Maintenance Window In Urban Rail Transit Systems, Yaochen Ma, Hai Yang, Hai Wang
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Regular maintenance during non-traffic hours (NTH) is vital for the resilience of urban rail transit (URT) systems, yet an insufficient NTH maintenance window poses a challenge for URT systems in various cities. For instance, the Hong Kong MTR Corporation has noted that the required NTH maintenance time often exceeds the available window, prompting service adjustments such as earlier late-night closures and/or later early-morning starts. To address this challenge, this study develops an optimal scheduling framework that links late-night and early-morning URT services through the NTH maintenance window requirement to maximize public welfare. A Decoupled Optimization Model (DOM) first derives closed-form …

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Learning-based dynamic fault localization techniques play a crucial role in the field of software engineering. These techniques dynamically execute test cases to meticulously extract useful knowledge from the execution information in the program, with the aim of identifying fault locations by leveraging machine learning, deep learning, and large language models. Currently, there is already a flourishing body of research that is intensely focused on learning-based dynamic fault localization. Research literature can be categorized into two main aspects for learning-based dynamic fault localization: data-based enhancements (i.e., the datasets) and model-based enhancements (i.e., the suspiciousness algorithms). Thus, we conduct an extensive literature …

As a long-standing task in the field of computer vision, VAD has witnessed much good progress. In the era of deep learning, with the explosion of architectures of continuously growing capability and capacity, a great variety of deep learning-based methods are constantly emerging for the VAD task, greatly improving the generalization ability of detection algorithms and broadening the application scenarios. Therefore, such a multitude of methods and a large body of literature make a comprehensive survey a pressing necessity. In this article, we present …
Operationalizing Ethics For Ai Agents: How Developers Encode Values Into Repository Context Files, Christoph Treude, Sebastian Baltes, Marc Cheong
Operationalizing Ethics For Ai Agents: How Developers Encode Values Into Repository Context Files, Christoph Treude, Sebastian Baltes, Marc Cheong
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
As AI coding agents become embedded in software development workflows, developers are beginning to operationalize ethical principles by encoding behavioral rules into repository-level context files for AI agents, such as AGENTS.md files. Rather than examining the ethics of AI agents in the abstract, this vision paper investigates how ethics and values are already being translated for AI agents into actionable instructions that shape agent behavior. Through a preliminary investigation, we find that developers are already embedding guidance related to fairness, accessibility, sustainability, tone, and privacy. These artifacts function as a developer-authored governance layer, translating abstract principles into situated, natural-language directives …

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex execute multi-step coding tasks with limited human oversight. To steer these tools, developers create repository-level configuration artifacts (e.g., Markdown files) for configuration mechanisms such as Context Files, Skills, Rules, and Hooks. There is no curated dataset yet that captures these configurations at scale. This dataset, collected from open-source GitHub repositories, fills that gap. We selected 40,585 actively maintained repositories through metadata filtering, classified them using GPT-5.2 to identify 36,710 as belonging to engineered software projects, and systematically detected configuration artifacts in these repositories. The dataset covers 4,738 repositories across …

Tranx-Adapter: Bridging Artifacts And Semantics Within Mllms For Robust Ai-Generated Image Detection, Wenbin Wang, Yuge Huang, Jianqing Xu, Yue Yu, Jiangtao Yan, Shouhong Ding, Pan Zhou, Yong Luo
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Rapid advances in AI-generated image (AIGI) technology enable highly realistic synthesis, threatening public information integrity and security. Recent studies have demonstrated that incorporating texture-level artifact features alongside semantic features into multimodal large language models (MLLMs) can enhance their AIGI detection capability. However, our preliminary analyses reveal that artifact features exhibit high intra-feature similarity, leading to an almost uniform attention map after the softmax operation. This phenomenon causes attention dilution, thereby hindering effective fusion between semantic and artifact features. To overcome this limitation, we propose a lightweight fusion adapter, TranX-Adapter, which integrates a Task-aware Optimal-Transport Fusion that leverages the Jensen-Shannon divergence …

Rendering Data Unlearnable By Exploiting Llm Alignment Mechanisms, Ruihan Zhang, Jun Sun
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly trained on massive, heterogeneous text corpora, raising serious concerns about the unauthorised use of proprietary or personal data during model training. In this work, we address the problem of data protection against unwanted model learning in a realistic blackbox setting. We propose Disclaimer Injection, a novel data-level defence that renders text unlearnable to LLMs. Rather than relying on model-side controls or explicit data removal, our approach exploits the models’ own alignment mechanisms: injecting carefully designed alignment-triggers to prevent effective learning. Through layer-wise analysis, we find that finetuning on such protected data induces persistent activation …

The widespread availability of large-scale code datasets has accelerated the development of code large language models (CodeLLMs), raising concerns about unauthorized dataset usage. Dataset poisoning offers a proactive defense by reducing the utility of such unauthorized training. However, existing poisoning methods often require full-dataset poisoning and introduce transformations that break code compilability. In this paper, we introduce FunPoison, a functionality-preserving poisoning approach that injects short, compilable weak-use fragments into executed code paths. FunPoison leverages reusable statement-level templates with automatic repair and conservative safety checking to ensure side-effect freedom, while a type-aware synthesis module preserves type correctness, suppresses static-analysis warnings, and …

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
With the increasing adoption of video anomaly detection in intelligent surveillance domains, conventional visual-only detection approaches often struggle with information insufficiency and high false-positive rates in complex environments. To address these limitations, we present a novel weakly supervised framework that leverages audio-visual collaboration for robust video anomaly detection. Capitalizing on the exceptional cross-modal representation learning capabilities of Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) across visual, audio, and textual domains, our framework introduces two major innovations: an efficient audio-visual fusion that enables adaptive cross-modal integration through lightweight parametric adaptation while maintaining the frozen CLIP backbone, and a novel audio-visual prompt that dynamically enhances …

Robust Graph Learning On The Web: Challenges, Methods, And Applications, Ao Xiang, Yang Liu, Guansong Pang, Yuanhao Ding, Hezhe Qiao, Dawei Cheng, Qing He
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Graph learning is transforming web intelligence, powering applications from recommender systems to anomaly detection. However, most existing approaches implicitly assume ideal conditions where training and testing data are accurate, complete, and free from manipulation. In reality, web environments rarely exhibit such stability. Dynamic user behavior, incomplete or outdated content, adversarial interference, and sudden distribution shifts can all erode the reliability of even state-of-the-art models, leading to biased or unsafe outcomes. This tutorial provides a comprehensive survey of emerging strategies for robust graph learning on the web. We first present a structured taxonomy of the principal robustness threats specific to web …

Verbalizing Lightgcn: Direct Learning Of Textual Representations From User-Item Interaction Graph Via Llms, Manh-Khanh Ngo Huu, Hady Wirawan Lauw
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
In this work, we propose VerbaLightGCN, a novel LLM-based recommendation framework that integrates the semantic understanding of LLMs with user-item interaction modeling. Traditional collaborative filtering (CF) models typically embed user and item IDs into a latent space to capture interaction signals. However, pretrained LLMs cannot natively interpret these learned embeddings. To bridge this gap, VerbaLightGCN adopts a CF-as-text paradigm, in which collaborative signals are encoded in textual form and directly learned from the user–item interaction graph, and are then combined with semantic information to construct user and item profiles that function as latent embeddings. Inspired by LightGCN, our method retains …

Divide-And-Conquer: Generating Ui Code From Screenshots, Yuxuan Wan, Chaozheng Wang, Yi Dong, Wenxuan Wang, Shuqing Li, Yintong Huo, Michael R. Lyu
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Websites are critical in today’s digital world, with over 1.11 billion currently active and approximately 252,000 new sites launched daily. Converting website layout design into functional UI code is a time-consuming yet indispensable step of website development. Manual methods of converting visual designs into functional code present significant challenges, especially for non-experts. To explore automatic design-to-code solutions, we first conduct a motivating study on GPT-4o and identify three types of issues in generating UI code: element omission, element distortion, and element misarrangement. We further reveal that a focus on smaller visual segments can help multimodal large language models (MLLMs) mitigate …

The Hellenic subduction system is the primary locus of Nubia‐Eurasia convergence, yet thedistribution of strain accumulation along it is still debated. Here, we invert 832 geodetic velocities and 146earthquake slip vectors to assess the spatial variability of interseismic locking and provide new constraints onthe rate of slip deficit accumulation. We find that the subduction interface beneath southwestern Peloponneseand across the area from offshore south Peloponnese to offshore southwest of western Crete hosts three patchesof low to moderate locking (0%–40%) at 10–50 km depth whose slip rate deficits account for ∼15–30% of thetotal plate convergence. The offshore weakly locked patches show …

Chi Meta-Project Ecosystem Overview - Spring 2026, David B. Smith
Publications and Research
This paper offers a high-level account of the Center for Holistic Integration’s (CHI) meta-project ecosystem as visualized in the included system map. CHI provides an organizational structure framed around persistent meta-projects that support and extend individual initiatives across curriculum, scholarly and applied research, infrastructure, artistic production, AI development, cultural inquiry, and external partnerships. Rather than presenting the map as a static inventory of projects, the paper examines how its core domains function as living systems through which knowledge, tools, documentation, participants, and collaborations can accumulate over time. It also considers how CHI-mediated connectivity, institutional integration, and external funding allow the …

We develop a surfactant-free synthesis method for gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using 2-propynylamine-functionalized silicon nanoparticles as integrated redox-active supports. Surface-anchored amine groups act as built-in reducing sites for Au3+ precursors at the hexane–water interface under ambient conditions, enabling in situ AuNP nucleation and growth. Time-resolved UV-vis spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering track the emergence of plasmonic AuNPs, while quantitative morphology analysis reveals a final population dominated by spherical and near-spherical nanoparticles (∼74%), with faceted polyhedral structures (∼4%) and dendritic, hollow, irregular, and rod-like morphologies (∼22%) as minority species. The temporal evolution proceeds from early dendritic and irregular aggregates to a …

Strict Steiner Symmetrization For Polygons, Joseph Chai, Sun-Yung Alice Chang
Electronic Proceedings of Undergraduate Mathematics Day
In this note, we introduce a method called Strict Steiner Symmetrization (see Section 2.2) that is an altered form of Steiner Symmetrization that fixes the number of vertices. The context of this paper will be to prove the Isoperimetric Inequality in R2 via approximation by polygons. Specifically, to establish that among all n-gon domains in the plane, the regular m-gon, m ≥ n, uniquely minimizes the isoperimetric ratio and that the limit of this regular polygon (that is the circle) achieves equality in the isoperimetric inequality. This note is an extracted portion of my junior thesis (A Polygonal Proof of …
