A Comparative Analysis Of The Origin And Divine Causation Of Death In Ancient Near Eastern Literature And In The Old Testament, Lazarus Castang
A Comparative Analysis Of The Origin And Divine Causation Of Death In Ancient Near Eastern Literature And In The Old Testament, Lazarus Castang
Dissertations
The present dissertation attempts a comparative analysis of both the origin of death in the creation accounts and the divine causation of death in the main flood accounts in the ancient Near Eastern (ANE) literature and the Hebrew Old Testament (OT). Both literatures are examined for their implicit or explicit conceptions of the origin and divine causation of death. The origin of death in the ANE literature is located in the Egyptian Osirian myth and the Mesopotamian Enki-Ninmah myth, Enûma Elish, Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Adapa legend. The divine causation of death is studied in the Eridu Genesis, Atra-Hasis …

Counting The Number Of Locally Convex Topologies On A Totally Ordered Finiate Set, Thomas Tyler Clark
Counting The Number Of Locally Convex Topologies On A Totally Ordered Finiate Set, Thomas Tyler Clark
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
We look at locally convex topologies on a totally ordered finite set. We determine a method of finding an upper bound on the number of such topologies on an n element. We show how this problem is related to Pascal’s Triangle and the Fibonacci Numbers. We explain an algorithm for determining the number of locally convex topologies consisting of nested intervals.

CREATING KNOWLEDGE 5 Dear Students, Faculty Colleagues, and Friends,
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, through the deliberations and efforts of its Task Force on “Creating Knowledge,” chaired by Professor Ralph Erber, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, committed itself to a number of new strategic initiatives that would enhance and enrich the academic quality of the student experience within the college. I wear sweater vests, I never split infinitives, I trim my beard close, and I read a poem at the beginning of every class. More to the point, as a member of the English faculty at a distinguished university, I distrust any word that had not been coined by the time my father—himself formerly a professor at a Jesuit university—completed his undergraduate studies.
So what am I doing as the faculty director of a Residential Learning Community (RLC) organized around the theme of “sustainability”?
In the past 18 months, the university that employs me hired its first sustainability coordinator, held …
